.....dropped off my Kodiak disc brakes from etrailer. I know what I'm doing this weekend!
Fed up with the drum brakes, looking forward to the upgrade. Sure is some beefy hardware in the box.

Using Carlisle 1600.

Update; not much to tell. Got the actuator wired up, worked first time, no issues. Ran the tubing, no issues. Started installing the rotors, big problem--either the brackets are wrong or the discs are not right. The rotor assembly goes on the spindle just fine, bearings fully engage races, etc. With the brackets installed, the rotors hit the bracket long before the hub is fully on the spindle. Called etrailer, as always, very helpful. Will know what the fix is on Monday. Oh well

Sounds awesome. I'm excited to see some pics and hear about the switchover. And especially to hear about the difference between the two systems. Jerry.

This is the actuator I'm planning on using http://www.direclink.com/actulink.html with this set of Kodak disks, I have Nev R Lube axles so I will end up with new bearings http://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Brakes/Kodiak/K2HR89XLD.html

Our new rig has the disk brakes. What a difference, I'm really glad I spent the extra getting them, as they actually stop the rig. Have to be careful on the brake controller setup as they can be a little "grabby" until you get the settings right. They will lock up the wheels on the trailer if the adjustment is a little too heavy.
Won't have a rig without them again.

I helped my Dad install the Kodiak kit on his HH Premier. He was very impressed his has the oil bath bearings.

It's amazing how well disks work. My 19K Mobile Suites stops extremely fast.

In the close neighborhood of 1700 bucks so far. I did some upgrades in the ordering of parts, and bought the most pricy actuator. The parts appear to be well made and very beefy. I also bought some Timken bearings from NAPA, 8 bearings were about 130 dollars. I'll try to remember to take some pics and do a write up on the adventure. Also will report my most honest opinion on performance after this year's epic Christmas Journey.
I can say the folks at Etrailer are great to deal with.

Nice! Care to share how many "wishes" it took to make this happen? In round numbers of course...just curious as I've been considering the same thing.
