Just bought a 2012 Montana
It Has a scare light swt on the panel
The scare light / flood light will not turn off and the inside swt stays illuminated
No matter if the swt is in the on or off position

I've tried turning swt on then wait a couple minutes then turning off ..but this doesnt turn off light

How the heck do I turn the scare light off?

Thanks

A light for folks that are scared? I don't have one.

Yep. Nice and bright, so while you cower in fear, the scare light makes it easy for the bears to see what they are ransacking. 🙂

My thanks to the folks that suggested the remote control solution

While setting up the camper this morning, I shoved the remote into my pocket
And Apparently pushed the scare light button

After awhile , I noticed the light was on and the search begin

After reading the replies , I grapped the remote and pressed the button
and the light was out

Appreciate you folks!!!

That fifth wheel is like mine and you should have a remote control that is used for stabilizers, awning, etc, it also controls the scare light. You need to turn the scare lights off with the remote then everything should work normally

Just to be sure we are all talking about the same thing this is what my 'scare light' looks like.

It is a 8-inch diameter large light usually mounted outside up high on each side the trailer on the rear end...

Do you have a remote? My understanding is that if you turn it on with the remote, you have to turn it off with the remote.

Sounds like a bad switch. Pull it out and you should see three wires. Hot in, ground and hot out. You can at least kill it there until you get a new switch.

I suspect you are going to have a real fun time on your first trip to a campground. That will be a pretty bright light burning all night long...

My scare lights which are on both sides of my fifth wheel on the rear sides has a control switch near the full size picture window on the rear wall of the trailer. It is not near the entrance door access. Mine is also not labeled - Just a switch on the wall...

This always 'ON' light will also run down your battery real quick as well if you are running without shore power connected. I would look all around the living area for an unmarked switch.

I actually find it hard to believe it is always on. It would not last sitting over night when on when parked anywhere. This light should run from 12VDC which gets it power from the trailer battery. When plugged into shore power the on-board converter/charger keeps the battery charged up... I'm suspecting your battery is either dead or not hooked up and the scare light only comes on when you are plugged into shore power ???
