Hi all,
Does anyone know of what we could use to block the heat from the skylight in our bathroom ? We have those foam plugs in all 3 of our vents but don't know what to use on the skylight.

I've always bought used rv trailers and they always had one of those blasted skylites. If I could afford to buy new it for sure wouldn't have one.
On everyone I used white Elastomeric Kool Seal on the top side. My current 5er is a '97 model and has three coats on it.

Much much cooler in the summer and quieter in rain storms.

After reading this thread, I'm sure glad the manufacturer (Excel by Peterson Industries) of our last 3 fifth wheels, used a smoked skylight as standard equipment. Never had a heat problem in the shower. rockin'

I've painted all of the skyights on my last four campers white to match the roof. Clean the sky light, and use Krylon Gloss White spray paint after making sure you tape off the roof. This was the first mod I did to my brand new Montana when I tool delivery. Keeps the heat form getting in the unit. Unlike material between the domes, the heat never gets in. If reflectix is used between them, the heat is still in your roof.

And the inside that still lets light in, but no heat!

Get a piece of silver bubble wrap insulation from Lowes, measure the skylight frame on the inside of the shower. Measure between the screws because this is the dimensions that you will need to cut the bubble wrap to fit between the screws. While at Lowes, go by the section where they sell screen and hold down clips. The clips come in different thicknesses. You will need to purchase 6 or 8 of these clips. Remove 2 screws on each side of the skylight inside frame and install the clips with the screws. Now just place the bubble wrap insulation in place and turn the clips to hold the wrap in place. Easy to remove when needed and keeps the light and heat out.

I did something very simple,...cut a piece of dry erase board (it's very light weight, around 1/8" thick)found at Lowes..... to the outer most size of the skylight & attached with white Velcro (to blend in with skylight molding).

I asked the same question about ours 11 years ago. Came up w/ getting some "J" channel, plexi glass. Cut the "J" channel to same size as skylight. Cut the plexi glass to a tad wider than the width between the 2 "J" channels, then slide the glass into the channel. To block the sun, just get a window cover that would fit over entry door w/ the velcro and slide on top of the glass (don't velcro it to anything). There is a 1" gap or so on BR side so I just stick a toothpaste box under it. Blocks out a great deal of light, but not entirely. If you want light, simply remove the cover from top of glass.

The shower and sink are "part" of the bedroom and an accordion door separates the 2 if need be.

If you PM me your e-mail, I can take some pics and send to you. Phooey, just remembered my son is out of school and he might be able to help me take/post pics on here (I'm 'puter illiterate!!)

When I replaced the inside dome, I painted the top side and put R-30 insulation in the attic before installing the new dome. Huge difference in the summer and winter.

I decided to just use roof coating and covered ours on every camper. It protects the plastic, cuts down the heat and bright light.
