Superglide 4100 in 2018 Ram 2500 Megacab

Hello everyone,

Just traded in my 2007 Dodge 2500 Megacab for a 2018 Ram 2500 Megacab and need to think about fifthwheel hitch installation.

Anyone install a Superglide 4100 in a 2018 Ram Megacab using the Ram factory fifthwheel mounts?

I e-mailed Pulrite and I was told that if I were to reuse my 4100 out of my 2007 Megacab, I would need to purchase the Ram mount adapter as well as the Pulrite adapter. Both adapters will raise my fifthwheel hitch about 5". The 2018 Ram is also 3" higher than my 2007 and I am concerned that I might be too nose high, requiring raising the trailer springs on top of the axles. My fifthwheel is a Jayco Eagle Superlite 30.5 RL.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

mopar picture frame adapter and a 18k Superglide with no issues. I did have to adjust my pinbox all the way up though.

Thanks for the input everyone. I pretty set on the automatic slider. Never had any issues with my superglide in my 07 short bed. I know that I will need to purchase the puck adapter regardless of witch ISR automatic pulrite I decide to go with.

"Sell what you have and buy the B&W puck mount slider"

After reading Arcamper's post, I think this quote is the right fix.

With a new 2018 truck, that has the pucks, it wouldn't make sense to spend almost as much to make old hitch work.

Had a guy here at my plant with the exact same issue and got the same response from Pulrite. It had to do with the direction the rails run. He could not go up in height so he sold the 4100 and bought a new hitch to fit the Ram pucks. The parts from Pulrite would have cost more to use the old hitch than the new one cost.

Better yet get the Andersen rail mount hitch, and skip the slider idea, no need for a slider. Works just great on my 2014 Megacab .

I think the only adapter you'd need would be the kind that drops into the pucks to give you "rails." Several of the companies make them, and I doubt they'd be much higher than regular rails - maybe a little bit. Check out some of your options on etrailer.

You might have to consider lifting your trailer to get enough bed clearance given how tall your truck is. I had to do an axle flip on mine to make it run level.

Traded my 2006 RAM 2500 or a 2017 with the factory โ€œpuckโ€ system. Purchased the โ€œpicture frame adaptor from RAM, and mounted my Pullright on it. On the 2006, I used the โ€œindustry standard โ€œ rails for the hitch. The picture frame adaptor on the 2017 is about the same height off the floor as the rails were in the 2006. The 2017 is a 4x4 so it is a little higher overall, but I find the rails and the adaptor about the same. No problems here. Good luck.
