Hi All,
Tire monitoring systems , what say yee , yae or nay . I saw something new from CW Tm66-M4. For my 5th wheel in sig. I don't want GY G614 110 psi bombs , I've been lucky for the past 9 yrs. and getting ready for the upcoming camping season.
Those who have them , what's the good , the bad ,and the ugly on them and would you recommend what you have to a friend.

Thanks in advance,
Rich

I finally gave up on my TireMinder system this last weekend, pulling my car hauler. after 40 miles I only got 3 sensors active, and 1 never moved on its reported pressure or temp, and temp was 91 while the air temp was only 78. (I had replaced the tires and valve stems at thanksgiving)

I had replaced the sensor batteries at xmas time.

I want to be able to turn off the trailer sensor detection while I am away from it, and still monitor the dually tires.

so I got two 507 systems. 6 + 4 for the 5th wheel, and 4 for the car hauler. two monitors. one will be setup for the dually and 5th wheel,
and one for the dually and car hauler.
then I don't have any reprogramming to do to switch trailers.
and I can turn off the trailer detection when I am away from the trailers.

and TST detects the trailer sensors without moving, so I can get a reading soon..and keep the tst monitors plugged in all the time when in use.

on the TireMinder, I lost a trailer tire before the sensor reported and was 16 miles from home.

TST had a sale + 10% + extra year of warranty thru yesterday.. $728 for all the above.

You may want to consider TST's system. It has the "disconnect" function to monitor just the truck or both truck and 5th wheel.

OK, just called Tire Minder and verified that the TM66 is in fact the newest system and only available at Camping World. It seems to only have one additional feature over the over unit in that it can run with some of the tires "disconnected" and not constantly give an error. Think Toad or TV disconnected from 5ver.

I thought there might be a side by side comparison, but apparently not - click both links open side by side and maybe you can tell? Looks like the TM66 is the "newer" system ... maybe?

Not entirely true, the TM66 just has the information on the Tire Minder website. No mention of price only that Camping World is the exclusive retailer for it. Really just trying to figure out which one is the latest and greatest. Might just need to give them a call to find out.

Does anybody know the difference between the Tire Minder TMG400 that's available everywhere and the Tire Minder TM66 that's only available at Camping World? Not sure which is newer and what the difference is. Camping World is quick to point out that their model is exclusive to them, but I've been around the block long enough to know that means nothing.

Assemblies/packages always cost less than the individual parts. A $50K pickup would probably cost over $100K if you bought it piece by piece at the parts counter.

It costs almost as much to handle/inventory/retrieve a $50 part as a $300 part.

Look at it this way... you're getting a spare receiver/monitor for free!

You could also sell that spare receiver/monitor on ebay to reduce your overall cost.

Figure this out. I have the TST 507 system, no problems. It has 4 sensors. I'm going to add 6 more for the truck (4) and spare tires (2). At $50/ea that's $300 or I can order a new TST 507 system with 6 sensors for $300.

Huh????

Thanks to all that replied,
I will have a TPMS before our first trip out. The cost of 1 tire is enough to offset the price of one, let alone the cost of trailer damage and down time. We all know a blowout could be sudden and unexpected , but monitoring pressure and temp can make all the difference.
Now which one ? the TST-507RV or the TM-66 M4.
For now I'm only looking to monitor the 5th wheel wheels, I can all ways expand later to the TV.

Update, Just ordered the TST-507rv with the repeater, from good-ole USA with 3yr warranty and 10% off total order w/ free shipping.
Thanks again all,

Just bought me a tst 507 unit!!!!

Question is to the people that have one.

Can u put the sensors on a rubber valve stem or do you have to have a metal one????

The lady on the phone said it will work fine on the rubber ones. I was just wondering if any has had problems mounting it on a rubber valve stem!!!

Thanks
Put my TST system on the rubber stems on my truck and had one fracture.
At least the TST told me the tire was going down before it was too serious and I had time to pull over!
I now have metal stems on the truck AND fiver.
Based on my personal experience I don't recommend TSTs on rubber stems, at least not for long.

Sold the fiver and looking for a DP, but not in any hurry right now.

I Personally have had 2 tire issues,1 low speed construction area, picked of a discarded knife blade,no TPMS....But stopped at friends 1/2 mile down road..no damage to rig.

Which prompted me to get Doran Pressure Pro..MADE IN U.S.A.

#2 TIRE ISSUE 50 mph on road, Alert losing pressure...pulled over, side blew out,seperated... got over while still 20 psi in tire.NO DAMAGE
I WILL NOT tow,.....without A T.P.M.S.

You make your choice.....I KNOW IT saved me Money on second tire failure......................( different set of tires on second fail)

The lady on the phone was right, the monitor will work fine on the rubber valve stem, but when the valve stem breaks off due to age and extra weight every thing fails. you will loose the monitor and the tire.

But when the monitor must be used on the large truck type rims it must be mounted to allow it to be in the outer rims dished center, so the use of a hose is a requirement.

The lady on the phone most likely does not own an RV.

That's what I'm thinking...I just put my new tires on and now have to go back and put metal stems.....:M
