We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned,
so as to have the life that is waiting for us.

Hello everyone, We are the Browns AKA (Modigazzi Travels) and are new to the full time lifestyle. We will be spending the holidays probably boondocking in chilly Ky. We are workamping for Amazon and are feeling like Amazombies. You can check us out at www.modigazzi.com, our youtube channel. I hope that everyone has a great holiday season.

It sounds like you are choosing news sources that have a vested interest in scaring their viewers. Fact is, the crime rate has gone down. Are they telling you that? Maybe look for more accurate news sources, ones that report good stuff too :).

Violence around you?
That depends on where you are.
Some areas are definitely not safe, while others have not gotten any worse than years ago.

It pays to be aware of your surroundings and know what to expect in unfamiliar
areas.

Turning off the TV won't make you any safer. From recent incidents across the country,it's easy to see that the police can't protect us.There's alot of evil people out there. Make sure you stay in relatively safe areas like private or government campgrounds where you are around other people. Don't leave valuable things outside that can be stolen. In 40 plus years of camping, twice we had things stolen. Lock your doors, get a dog and arm yourself. If you don't feel comfortable in an area, leave. It's most likely you will never have a problem, but it's best to be prepared.

What will probably be of most concern will be such as happened yesterday at the park where I am currently parked....a homeless family who are enjoying a stay in a camper belonging to a religious disaster relief ministry RV parked across the road about a 100 feet away bring their three dogs over across the street to my lot and allow their dogs dump their businesses about 4-5 feet from my MH and leave it laying.

BEWARE: They walk among us...

Call it in. Tell them to send everything they can including the SWAT and Hazmat guys. And rush as fast as possible. A dog crapping on your site is truly a real crisis. Take pictures, document everything. Protect and cordon off the crime scene. Call the TV news guys to send out a camera crew. Yikes, and it is in your front yard. How unlucky!

Your compassion for your fellow man came through loud and clear. Why not grab a few bags, go out and hand the bags to them and say "I see you didn't have bags with you". Smile and wish them a good day.

I hope you asked them to clean it up. That's what I do. They always apologize profusely. :R

Turn off the TV. ๐Ÿ™‚ You can constantly be looking over your shoulder and peeking out the curtain or you can go out and enjoy boondocking.

Blowing up a single trailer in the middle of nowhere doesn't make for a good attack. They want shock and awe and that doesn't do it.

Secondarily they want to disrupt our economy and shutting down buisness, factories and transportation is how that is doen. Taking out a snowbird park in arizona doesn't really hurt the larger economy much.

Did I miss what this is referring to?

I think crime is about the same as it has always been - there are the same percentages of good people and bad people. The only difference is that there is more media exposure - remember the days we only had 4 TV channels and no internet?

Personally, I feel safer now than when I grew up. I have a cell-phone with me so if things go south I can call 911. House/RV/Car locks and security systems are far superior to 20-30 years ago - remember when you could open a car lock with a screw-driver?

I have no issues camping alone - there are a lot of good people out there, just use your common sense.
