Joe,

Now you know why some states are better for Fulltimers.

Why not? As I have repeatedly said, if you KNOW the applicable laws, and OBEY the laws, and DOCUMENT your compliance with the laws, you will have NO trouble!

As for a physical address, just go to the UPS store, rent a PMB, and your address becomes the street address of the UPS store, as in:
Joe Doaks
1234 Any Street
PMB X442
Anytown, Anystate, 59187-1234

You can use that address on your vehicle registrations, your driver licenses, whatever you need to use it for.
When you move to another location, simply call the UPS store and change the address where your mail is to be forwarded.
We did it for three years, while we moved every 13 weeks. It worked great.
When I go to change my license over they will ask for something proving I live at the address I give them. For example electric bill, gas bill, landline phone bill, cable bill. This is the trouble I run in to because its not a house but a motorhome.

As someone who has been there and done that, and gotten caught, and had to pay the state of Illinois nearly $7000 in sales taxes, just don't do it.

In my case, I did not establish a domicile in Montana. (most don't, right?)

And many if not most states require vehicle registration to be transfered if the vehicle is physically in the state for 31 days.

And they are on to the Montana LLC thing. When I bought the Knight in Florida, titled and registered to my Montana LLC, Florida sent a letter to my state of domicile (Illinios) the same day they issued my temporary tag.

The revenuers are talking to each other. They are trolling these forums.
I would highly discourage anyone from trying to title and tag any vehicle in a state they do not "live" in. As in vote in, own property in, pay taxes in...

No, not all states will allow you to use UPS mailbox as a legal physical address for DL, registering vehicles and voting. TN has a history of descriminating against Fulltimers. There are good reasons why FL , SD, and Tx are favored by Fulltimers. Suggest you go to the Fulltimers section in this forum and also look at he Escapees forum, loads of better info on. Fulltiming that you will find in the Class A section.

Joe I have the same deal you have now----homes in 2 states----registration where there is no annual personal property tax, emissions, or State inspection. My friend just transferred everything to Tenn. Said it was the best tax deal.

South Dakota, Texas, and Florida are best these days. Everyone in on the lookout for montana LLC's, don't even go there.

What you are really looking for as a full timer is a "domicile state". someplace to call home, when your home is on wheels.
You'll need / want to register to vote in your domicile state, get your drivers licenses there, and your license plates.
This is also where you will pay state taxes 8if they have any) and where your home as far as medicare or other health insurance is.

Not sure if you can do it any longer. They require a physical address. http://www.tn.gov/safety/driverlicense/dlproof.shtml

I live in ky right now and the insurance rates are out of this world.I would like to set my home base up in tn so when it comes time to renew my license I wont have to travel so far to do so.I currently have it registered in nc and will keep it their if I have to but would like to relocate to tn.Because every year I have to take it their to do a safty inspection.Other than that I have no problem leaving it their because my driver license are still in ky.Dont ask me how I done it but they let me get by with it.I told them I had two residents one in ky which I live and one in nc where the rv will be staying.I told the insurance company the same and they took down the nc address.

If you just need registration in any state call their DMV. They will tell you exactly what you need to do to register in their state. Most states requre that you be a resident of that state and have an address. There are a couple of organizations, one in Texas and one in SD that help full timers in those states set up residents and register. Sounds like you are trying to side step the rules. Certainly not recommended.
