We're Going For It

This past Sunday, my husband and I made the huge and exciting decision to go RV'ing full time. The house is going up for sale, the belongings that own us, as another forum member so eloquently put it, are being sold or given away.

We are shooting for starting this adventure in the spring of 2014. Every morning we wake up and tell each other, "One more day closer."

I can't remember anything in my life that I have looked forward to so much.

Have the BEST day ever!

Congrats to you guys.

We are putting our house on the market the first week in Dec. and hope to have it sold and hit the road in the Spring. Same story getting rid of stuff that need a house to live in. This has been our dream for a number of years but decided to wait for the real estate market to heat up again. Good for us it is going strong here in SW Fla. Maybe we will see you guys out on the road so God Speed and may he keep you in the palm of his hand.

Congrats!

As one of the victims of the "Great Recession", we originally started full timing out of a complete lack of other options. I finally landed a great job about a year ago, and even though we're back in a position where we could move into a sticks and bricks, we've found we have absolutely no desire to do so! Instead, we're upgrading from a small TT to a 33' motorhome (picking it up next weekend!) and are already saving for the next upgrade after that.

The day we sold all that we owned and moved into our RV was one of the best days of our lives! We have not regretted it for one minute. We love this lifestyle. We workamped up north in a wilderness campround for the past two summers and now work and live in a full service RV park. Both are a great life and we regret none of it!

Congrats! We have made the same decision and will be heading out next summer. We pick up our new TT tomorrow and will have the next 7 months to work out the bugs and have it ready for FT.

Today was a GREAT day! I have been just itchin' to get rid of some stuff and today was the perfect day for that. Our garbage service had a 'throw anything away' day and I took advantage of that in a big way. The nice lady that cleans my house took items, big and small. BONUS! She was stopping at the Salvation Army on her way home, so I took the opportunity to fill up two boxes of my no longer needed clothes, jackets and shoes for her to drop off.

I had better slow down or else the house will be empty by Halloween!

Congrats on your decision! We are planning on fulltiming about the same time, but need to unload the house first. We are currently trying to winnow our keepsakes and the various items that have been "entrusted" to us that the kids don't want. I'm working on reducing my book collection now. Best of luck to you as you face your own challenges in preparing for the next adventure.

We are getting ready to do this same thing. We have decided the house goes on the market 11/20 and once it sells we are going to move into our current unit until we can get our full time unit built. Once that is done the current unit goes to a consigment lot and we will live in the new one until 1/2017 when my wife can retire. I will continue to work to build my pension until she can retire even though I could retire as of a year ago. Our plan has always been to full time so we just figured lets start now and not have to deal with the house and it's upkeep the next three years.

We are headed there as well! Sold the house in July, moved into the 5th wheel then. Hardest part was ridding ourselves of all of the "stuff" we had accumulated over the years! And apparently, good, sturdy, wooden furniture isn't worth what you bought it for! If and when we ever settle down again, we'll be checking Craigslist to furnish another house (don't think it will happen at this point) DH will be working until 12/14 to pay off truck and rig. Or, as he says, 2 bad days in a row at work!

Yay! We have been fulltime for 7 1/2 years, too young for SS and we have found a way to make it work. Those stressful jobs were killing us. The first few years we had a workamper/park host job in the winter season and another one in the summer season with a few weeks off in the spring & fall to travel. Now we work 6 months (me a volunteer park host and DH works outside the park) and travel 6 months. You will never regret your decision. My 2 cents, only keep a storage unit if you just can't part with some of your "stuff", don't travel too many miles each day, travel some of the 2 lane highways, plan for maintenance & repairs and enjoy it!
