Except we seldom get snow in the South. Kinda like winning the BCS up north.

I would expect it to be cleared up by them. Weekend temps are guessed to be above freezing so they should have it cleared up but Atlanta can be bad anytime. It's a big city on par with Chicago, Philadelphia or St Louis.

I too would expect no problems on Sunday.. Now Last week I headed for Atlanta on Friday.. No problems going south (Around NOON) from Buford to South side of Atlanta in 40 minutes... Coming back, 2 hours.

You might want to consider that option, too!

They will begin to tow the many remaining abandoned cars after 9pm tonight. I-75 north of Atlanta is in particularly bad shape, but should be good by Sunday.

We're an hour south of Atlanta and a majority of the ice/snow is now melted. As mentioned, local news has said today was to be a big push to get abandoned cars off interstate and towing to start.

The Georgia DOT traffic web site has lots of good info on it including live camera views, incident markers and digital sign viewing.

The temperature for Sunday will be 63 degrees! There will be no aftermath by then, so travel on!

By Sunday the roads will be back to normal. There is always a fair amount of traffic in the Atlanta area. Try to avoid the morning and evening rush and you'll be fine.

DH and I were in Atlanta last weekend, before all the mess, and the Interstates there were lightly traveled most of the time during the day. I 20, I 75, I 85 and I 285 were easy to navigate with no one doing less than the speed limit, and most well over it! Temps are supposed to moderate beginning Friday and I have seen news reports with cars moving well already on the major roads. Safe travels!

CNN just said that more than 2000 cars are still abandoned in Atlantic. Today, the officials are suppose to be assisting citizens in finding their abandoned cars, and in the live report they said there is still ice on the roadways, but it is starting to melt.
