Just got back from trip and got them all off the front of my coach!FUN!Noticed that the windshield treated with Rain X they just washed off but had to scrub the rest pretty hard. How about coating the rest of front with RainX?Sounds reasonable!Wouldn't think it would hurt the paint then wonder should wax it first then RainX !Thought would ask as there is always somebody here who has tried things already could just do it but thought would ask first! Thanks!!

I use these pads with warm water. They work great and there is no scratching:

I put a thin coat of petroleum jelly on before hitting the road. Cleaned by hot soapy water and a soft bristle brush

Try it!

Try a product called LA Awesome. It's a general purpose cleaner available at many discount stores. I just bought 2, 1/2 gallon bottles at Dollar General for $3.00 each. It also comes in other size bottles.

I'd never heard of it until we went to the Winnebago Grand National Rally last month. I went to a maintenance seminar put on by a Winnebago rep. He claimed to use it whenever he washed his motorhome to melt away the bugs.

I tried it a couple weeks ago and was amazed at the results. I diluted it 4:1 and sprayed it on with a 1 qt. spray bottle. I waited about 2 minutes then washed the front end with the normal car wash soap. It didn't take any effort at all to wipe several bazillion bugs off.

The only caution the rep mentioned is not to leave it on for an extended period if you have a protective vinyl paint mask on the front end. The same emulsifier that dissolves the bugs will loosen the adhesive that holds the mask to the fiberglass.

Hmmmmm....THAT, my friend, may be just the ticket for those wanting to get rid of the 3M film on the front of the coach.....thanks for the tip.....Dennis

I bought that stuff also. Beware if it comes in a spray bottle.

I didn't read the label and I found out too late that it was a concentrate. To be diluted 20 to 1 and a warning about it removing paint and finishes. Who puts concentrate in a spray bottle? :E

I used it straight from the bottle. Who would of thought it was a concentrate! Used in the MH and had to run around trying to rinse it off before it took the finish off everything I put it on.

Perhaps why it is sold at the Dollar Store when the manuf accidentally put concentrate in the spray bottles. :R

I am now sticking to Dawn for EVERYTHING. No more magic potions for me or my MH.

When I got back from the Flathead Valley, the front of the coach was just a mass (or mess) of splattered bugs.
wishing to have the least amount of work getting it clean, I decided to use windshield washer fluid, full strength, in a garden sprayer. I had a gallon jug of the cheap stuff, so I liberally sprayed the front of the coach with it, waited a few minutes, sprayed again, then washed it with a brush that attaches to a hose, so water is running through the brush at all times.
The coating of bugs just pretty much rinsed away! Windshield or fiberglas, didn't matter, they mostly just rinsed off! There were a couple spots that needed to be scrubbed with the brush, but all in all it was the easiest bug clean I have ever done!
DW got back from Thermopolis, WY on Monday, very few bugs on the front of the coach. Either there were no bugs in WY, or they just didn't stick. Whatever, the front of the coach is pretty clean.

I ruined the front of my rig with dryer sheets. It was so bad that the affected area had to be repainted....

After reading about dryer sheets here on the forum I tried it on my toad and it permanently scratched the paint!!!

Thank you viajante for posting your experience on this. Happened to me also.

This warning NEEDS to be posted every time someone suggests those darn dryer sheets.

Are you WETTING the dryers sheets FIRST..:h...

I haven't run into any problems using them for the love bugs. Trick to getting them off is to do it ASAP...they are harmless when alive but secrete an acid when they die...that's what damages the paint. By wetting the dryer sheets and using an ample amount of rinse water, I haven't had any issues with the dryer sheets...I use Bounce if that matters..dunno.. .Dennis

Yes, I did wet them before use, following the advice I found on this forum.

Typical man. LOL! Used dryer sheets, wet. Works great and does not scratch. New sheets are stiff and probably would scratch if used dry.
