DW and I are in Mobile,Al and we're going to head across I-10 to New Orleans.
My question is I'd like to ask you wonderful ladies and gentlemen, where is the best place to dock our boat? DW is telling me something about Mardi Gras RV park but we just don't know because we've never camped there although we have stayed in N O.
We are keeping a list of all the parks we've stayed in so hopefully we will only have to ask once. So far we've been lucky in that all the parks have been super, thanks Rob

LOL about story above about CG on chef hwy. BAD< BAD area. I live in new orleans and i have said many times someone needs to put up a nice park close to new orleans but not in the city. when i want to go camping nearby there is no place to camp that is nice. french quarter resort is beautiful but it is for tourist that park there rigs and go into the city. sites are tight and no one is really camping. pricey too. ponchartain landing is nice but mostly same concept and somewhat pricey. there are alot of campgrounds across the lake which is the distance that i want to travel but most are run down and poorly managed. i say sometimes i have to put on my blinders to drive into most of them. please someone come and build a nice campground around here. anyone interested? i'll design it , it would be a funny party campground ,ie karaoke or DJ every weekend.. not kidding anyone want to be partners in a campground?

Well, DW and I thought Ponchartrain Landing was kinda high priced so we tried a place over on Chef Menteur Hwy because it was cheaper, (wrong) thought it was a little different when we pulled in and had to wait for a Lady of the night to walk by on the sidewalk.

Pulled in to the front of the office and sat there looking around.

Three trailers sitting in the park with about 100 spaces, and we sat there....nobody came out and we didn't go in so I ask DW, "Didn't we say we were going to Ponchartrain Landing"? and she said yeah.

We are at Ponchartrain Landing and oh what a nice park. Donna and I recommend it. Rob

Good choice. Now go to the CG bar and have a drink or 2. Have fun!

The French Quarter would be tough to use it.....

Ponchartrain Landing is a nice park and they may have a boat dock.
I'm still trying to figure out how they are going to navigate across I-10 in their yacht. I can see the intercoastal water way, but not I-10. But then maybe they are towing it behind their Travel Supreme .

Bayou Signette SP, Across the river, there is a free ferry you can park your toad and ride at Algiers, about 7mi from Downtown, Ferry drops you off downtown. Parking for all day was $5.00 a couple of yrs ago. Very nice Park, no sewer, but dumping station, large rigs.

Is nice and they have a shuttle into town if you are not towing or if you want to party.

They also have a marina there with docking space if your "boat" is really a boat.

If you have time, stop at Hollywood R V Park at
Hollywood Casino in Bay St Louis MS. You COULD
commute to New Orleans from here, but even for an
overnight stop it's fine. Widely spaced sites,
big trees, FINE food at the casino (including the
buffet)......it has an internet site. P M me for
more, including directions.

French Quarter RV REsort is one block form the French Quarter. It is an easy 1/4 mile off I10 and it is very enjoyable.
The atmosphere is resort like with a beautiful clubhouse, pool, spa complex with a salt water pool open late.
The only negative is the noise of the city and the elevated I10 freeway across the road.
RV site are nice and large with very lice paving stone/concrete pads with grass between the sites.
