I bought this sign at Home Depot for $2 and added the message. Hopefully it will discourage thieves from taking our stuff when we are out and about. I wanted to add more aggressive language and maybe a sketch but my bride didn't want me to.

X3. Posting that sign is NOT a good idea and not something that I would do.

Put out a large dog bowl and a pair of rubber boots, size 14, along with a handful of empty 12-gauge shells.

But it will get their attention which is the object of the sign.

How about "Gone to buy more ammo"?

The biggest thing that a sign or traffic cone does is take away the "I thought the site was vacant and they forgot all this valuable stuff" excuse, if they get caught. It likely wouldn't even slow down the all too common low end thieves that seem to troll campgrounds more all the time.

I think you should put your name on the sign, though, or they will take it, too, like they do with the traffic cones.

Jerry -- Gone to get the dogs and beer. Did u bring enough guns?

Well, you're just telling them you're gone and probably won't be back for awhile and have good stuff worth stealing, IMO.

A handwritten note to your friend Jerry telling him that you and the guys will be right back would probably have more impact. You might add that Brutus is locked inside so not to open the door.

You are assuming that the thieves can read or really care about signage.
Is it time for your medication or mine?
