Extended Warranties (Again)

Hi All,
Am purchasing a new RV and am torn between 2 companies. Good Sam has a 4 year plan ($250 deductible) and Wholesale Warranties, which now owns their own company (Viking), has a 5 year plan (200 deductible) . Wondering if any of you had positive or negative experiences with either plan. Cost per year is slightly cheaper with Wholesale but not a factor if there is a lot of negative experiences out there. Please no not respond by telling me that warranties are a waste of money. That would be a waste of the forums time. I realize that many of you feel this way and accept that but, I have already decided to get one. Also, some might have had Wholesale Warranties in the past and were assigned to a 3rd party agency. That is no longer the case. I would just like comments on there own "Viking Plan" or Good Sam. If you have a plan different from the two mentioned and have had great success, I would be open to hearing about it.

I checked Good Sam, Wholesale and Coach Net. I decided on Coach-Net. I liked the coverage and better price.

Put your money in the gas tank and enjoy your travels. I would suggest Coach_Net for on-the-road things like a flat tire.

Have not had any experience with those but we bought our 7 year extended warranty from "Xtra Ride" in 2012. We have had a few issues and they have always paid for everything, it has already paid for itself and I still have a couple of years left.

Jeff Shelton WW, will go out of his way to assist you with a claim. My only suggestion would be to make sure you get an exclusionary contract. i.e. it spells out what is EXCLUDED. If it's not listed as excluded, it's covered. Easier to tell whether some "issue" is covered. Also, follow the rules in the contract, prior approval is a must regardless of what the service writer may tell you....Dennis

Whatever company you choose, be sure to read the actual contract, not the sales brochure. You may find some companies will not even provide that to you, so you will be buying something blind. That may help you decide.

I would definitely go with the highest price. You know if it costs more it's got to be better.

Give a vote for Jeff Shelton and Wholesale Warranties...when we had my HR, the LCI slide/jack motor fried itself (thank God after we just upped the levelers and pulled in the last slide) and the paperwork was still in the pipe...he handled everything and all was done..Then my satellite dome fried itself...within 2 to 3 weeks they installed a new sat system on the HR I used to own....My DW also made sure we were covered for my new coach after warranty is over...Could not be happier with Jeff..just follow the rules and keep them in the loop.

Just remember, whatever warranty you choose, you must follow all the rules. Prior authorization is a must. You probably cannot do any of the work yourself.

Wholesale warranties has an excellent reputation as an RV company. They have been a fixture at many RV rallies and shows. When I had a warranty problem, and they were the agent, they went out of their way to make sure everything was completed to my satisfaction. Helped make the claim, followed up, called me regularly to make sure the work was progressing. I could not have been a happier camper (well maybe if it didn't break in the first place). I won't try to compare the to companies, since I have no experience with GS warranty.

Another thought, if you have a repair facility that you might be using after your regular warranty expires, ask them their experiences working with after market warranties. They might pick a totally different company from your choices.

Good luck and safe travels,

I don't have an extended warranty on our coach because of age, but we have used Good Sam for road service for years and have always had excellent service from them and so on that basis I would recommend Good Sam
