Extended Warranty

Iam looking at buying a 07 tiffin "fred", the dearler is offing a extended warranty thru USA Travel Care. Does anyone have experience with this company? Seems like a good thing you can take coach to any shop, and after preapproval they pay with a corpate credit card.

Give the people at Wholesalewarranties.net a call or e-mail. As noted above, an extended warranty is a big dealer profit maker. I've done well with mine, but do shop around.

Thanks for all the advice. I am still not sure but I am leaning to keeping the money and putting in a maintace/repair fund.

It also depends on how long you plan on keeping the TT. I rarely get extended warranty on anything because I trade in every 2 or 3 years. I have not kept a vehicle for over 2 years in a looong time. I bought a new TT and figured I would probably trade in 2 or 3 years so opted not to spend 2 grand on the extended warranty.

It is up to the individual to make a decison on extended warranties or putting money in an account every month. I personally had the GS warranty and am very pleased with it. My last visit and repairs was well over what I pay a year to maintain this warranty. I have yet to have any hassle with ESP in getting the repairs I have needed over the last several years. It would have cost me must more out of pocket if I had a "savings" repair account. My last bill was over $2,400.00 and I only paid my deductable, $250.00. Again we all have choices.

take the $ you're going to spend on the EW and start a MH Repair and Maintenance Fund add to that fund each month. that's what we did back in 2000 and so far we are way, way ahead.

My MH is now 10 years old and this is our 4th. MH. We have never had a repair that was even near the cost of any extended warranty. When a repair does come I will still be money ahead, even if I have to sell the MH to pay for it. In 44 years of RVing it just hasn't happened to us. The companies selling thes plans are not a charity or non-profit.

Perfect advice! An EW can be a life saver, but the onus is on YOU to be certain the policy you get offers the coverage you think it does. Research fully. Understand the odds are you won't recoup what you paid in. Understand that this is insurance against a breakdown and that the insurance companies make healthy profits. Then decide if an EW is for you, or not. Don't let others tell you it's good for you, or it's not......

Its always a gamble whether you win or lose with a service agreement. I have had mine for a year and only saved about $200 on a covered repair, but have paid out $2000 for the coverage......

I am glad I invested in an extended warranty with Good Sam. It cost me $1300 a year with a $500 deductable. It has paid for itself many times over.

My coach is almost 9 years old. I have never had an extended warranty and I am money ahead. It's like buying an insurance policy.

From what others have said many times certain things are not covered. Read the fine print carefully.
The ones that sell them make a big commission.

Extended warranties are very good deals for the dealership which makes a large commission and the extended warranty company, who make money by talking in more premiums than paying out claims. The pre approval process is notorious for having a lot of hoops to jump through, any one of which done wrong will result in the claim being denied. And often there will be fine print that if something breaks because a non-covered part breaks, then nothing is covered.

Most people would be money ahead by taking the cost of the extended warranty (which is really a repair service insurance policy), putting it in a savings account and adding to it each month. Then when a repair is needed, you have the funds and don't have to worry about hoops or getting preauthorization. That fund can also be used for replacing things BEFORE they break if you happen to find a worn part that could let go.
