fuel filler hose cost??

Took Mh to local RV shop to get the fuel filler hose replaced. F53 Chassis, 1997 Dolphin. Charge for 4 feet of hose was $147.00. That is 36.75 a foot. Near as I can tell from looking on line just now that is about twice the cost it should have been. Don't know what the ID was but even at 2 inches that still seems high. Suspect the ID is about 1 and 1/2 inches at the most. Any other opinions or actual cost experience? Thanks

Green stripe "Gas Hose" runs about 20 to 25 bucks a foot. Labor in most shops around here is 125 to 145 an hour. I'd say it was a normal event.

I replaced my 2in hose myself for $80.00 Most shops charge labor by the hour with a 1 hour min. I think it is on the high side but not totally out whack. Check your local craigs list for mobile Rv repair services. I have had great luck with these folks. Had a peaky head tail turn problem fixed for $80.00. A repair shop takes $125.00 for a look see.
there is an underground of talented people who work without a brick and mort shop may only take cash....but get it done

What do you expect from a RV shop??? Most are not that good at chassis work, and that is what you were having done. And I'm wondering how difficult it was to get the hose from the fill to the top of the tank, and to attach it there! $417 out the door at a RV shop isn't all that bad for what they did.

But you should post your complaint here: http://rvservicereviews.com/. And you should also look there before going to have work done

If that price included the labor to install, you got a deal. That is one of the hardest things I had to do on my Dolphin. That fit was so tight it literally took a couple of hours of fiddling and struggling to get that thing installed. TOUGH ONE!

I didn't even add in the tax. Total was 446.00 I did get excited but knew it wouldn't do any good so after expressing my dismay I paid the bill and left.

Labor charge was for 3 hours at $90.00. So they got me there as well. I was underneath it, two clamps, one on each end, easy to get to. Was going to do it my self but needed refrig. recall done and figured one hour labor and 80.00 for a hose so decided to take to them. Won't go to them again.

One poster on another forum said he did his in about an hour. I was ready to grant them two hours so was thinking $260.00, not 446.00.
I think I would be more bent out of shape over the labor charge than the hose.
So your saying it was $147.00 plus $270 - total of $417.00 for the repair??? I would have yelled my head off and backed into the nicest RV on the lot as I left. OK, I exaggerate a bit....but I would have yelled.
