How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

I'm new here, and curious.

How many of us in Class C own Dodge B300 incomplete
cab/chassis based RV's? I know two others- Steve aka
Ripsaw, with a 1977 Brougham, and Leroy aka 1978_Dodge
_Delta who owns a 440V8 powered sharp looking 1978
Delta RV. I would like to ask, and offer, help, idea
swapping and comparing notes on our particular RV's
which are based on the Dodge B300 van chassis.

Yeah, I know. These are low tech, podgy old RV's that
would be considered "entry level" for folks like me,
but I have a deep and abiding respect for the quality
of these old "monsters of the open road". And anyone
wanting to pick brains, joke about, share notes or just
brag about our old A- Dodge-io's are certainly welcome
to PM or email me. Between all of us we can form a real
good support group, and help each other with problems
we know we'll encounter with an older vehicle.

Sure. I'd love a new RV. But I'd rather have an older
one already paid for, and a lotta great memories. Call
me frugal, an old hippie, or whatever you will. I'm proud
of my old land yacht.

P.S. Mine's a '72. Is there an older one out there someone's
motorvating in? Maybe even a Travco? W/K

New Question. Has anyone converted their Dash air to R134?

Good question. I see the conversion kits in the store for CHEAP and want to see if I can convert my '76

I am going over to my buddy Bob's (mechanic par excellance) in a bit.
Bob does auto AC for a living and I will ask. He'll have to do mine, too.

I'm on my way to the DMV today to finally register the Tioga. It'll be about $270.00 or so, but that includes title transfer, plate fees, and the biggie- HOBBIEST to match my other vehicles! One time plate charge, good until forever!

Doc, it's funny reading your stuff about the heat cross-over, then reading the same topic on moparts, except everyone is deliberately blocking them off over there! :B For those that aren't as versed in Mopardom, for our RV application, MBD is correct, keep them operational. For race and hi-po applications, you want the coldest air charge you can get, so they get blocked off. Apples to Oranges.

Of course, the '75 El Dorado we had first had a golf tee in one vacuum line, a stick in another, a screw in another - you get the idea :R

I have a SPARK PLUG stuffed into one of my vacuum lines! A golf tee is nuttin! :B

No idea. Last nights Job was Heat insulation.

It's a 79 440.

I was thinking something along those lines. I can't imagine the wood is all that good of a heat sink. But it does get me thinking....

Clothespins on the fuel line is an old anti-vapor lock trick. The idea is they act as a heat sink and keep the line a little cooler so the gas doesn't boil.

Hey Eye, what year is your rig? I'm not sure why the fuel line comes up the rear of the engine! Isn't the fuel pump on the FRONT of the engine?

The only thing I can think of for why the clothspins are there is it was a handy storage solution! :B You know, after you finish your laundry, drag off the dog house, remove the oily clothspins, and hang your clean laundry to dry!

To separate the ignition wires ?

Is YOUR heat crossover clear ...and operational ?

Spent several hours working on the RV tonight. I pulled the cab seats and the doghouse, ripped out all the old carpeting, cleaned, vacummed, then went to town sealing the floorboard and putting down heat barrier and padding. Now I need to track down some left over carpet to finish the job.

Here's a question... notice the fuel line in the pic. Any idea why the PO would have attached clothspins like that?

Ahhhh ...LOTS of RV shows, car shows ..... cruises ...etc ETC.

That reminds me .... of that Garlits show in November ... in Ocala, FL ... THEN to the SuperBoat races in da' Keys !

HOW many people here have taken advantage of the "antique/classic" licence plates that some DMVs issue ?

HUGE savings !

I will. If I don't buy this Avion, it will be something older than 26 years, something I can put an historic plate on and go.

Ohio it's $25 for 40 years. Otherwise, MH plates are by weight.

In Ohio, you have to be traveling to a show.
Right... I take the Merc everywhere!
But it's amazing how many "RV Shows" there can be all over the continent. Huh.

Hi Trish .... it was LATE last night ....I should have added -- that if that exhaust heat crossover passage IS blocked ... it can cost MPG big-time.

It wasn't that late, you mentioned it.
Blocked it'll also leave unignited fuel in the bottom of the bowls.

I have hysterical plates on my old Dodge. I get a lot of laughs from it.
