Looking for my first 40 ft diesel pusher

I have a max of 100,000 to spend on my first diesel pusher. I have been looking at adds for Newmar and Monaco. A Winnebego 2004 Journey Series M-39K has been advertised with three slides. My belief is that a 4 slide unit will have less depreciation than a three slide. Would I be ahead buying a 4 slide unit that may be less depreciation and what do you think of the Winnebego Journey Series M-39K? As usual thanks for anyone that has knowledge of what I am trying to do.

It is not a step up if you are purchasing a coach of lesser quality. Also, I would stick with paying cash.

Question here....I see new ones on mega clearance once in a while....Berkshire 400 something or other brand new 250ish msrp for like 150k brand new. Is it worth 50k more to get a brand new one that's 8-10 years newer? Paying cash I get it, but if you had to finance some would it be worth the step up?

What I needed to know, is the Winnebego 2004 Journey Series M-39K comearable to the Monaco Camelot or the Newmar Dutch Star? Is the unit a good proven unit?
Thanks for all inputs.

I just sold my 2006 Journey 39k. We put many trouble free miles on it. I now have a Newmar Ventana and the Journey is way ahead of it. I should have kept it.

Matter of opinion.

I would look at Fleetwood Revolutions too. For $100K, you would be in the 2005-6 range. You would want an LE.
We love ours,
Winnebago made a good coach then too. At that age, it is all about maintance records and condition. Get a high original quality coach and you will be happy.

I'd look at the Revolutions too. I've had two and they're great motorhomes. In midyear 05 they switched to the Sparten Chassis and refered to it as an LE. They came with 400hp Cats. I had one and it's great. I now own an 04 38 ft Rev on a Freightliner Chassis, with a Cummins 350hp. The Cummins has fewer horsepower but more toque. I can't tell any difference in the ride, and the power seems about the same going over the Sierras on I-80. One advantage the LE chassis has is the floor level sits a little higher giving you a little more height in the storage compartments. I also believe in early 05 some had Cat 350hp engines, but I don't think many were built. Quality in the Revolutions is as good as I've seen in any DP except the high end models. They drive and ride great. I bought mine about a year ago, had 27,000 miles, always garage kept, like new, new tires and batteries and paid around 70k Good Luck

Look at Beavers 2003-2005. As good or better quality than Newmars of same era but thats arguable. I looked at many before I bought and I was surprised by the quality of the Beavers. Don't believe me though, find one and check it out.

This is true, Beaver made a great coach, and are still bringing premium prices.

It says Diesel in the Ad.

Tom/Barb, you are correct. I just looked at the radiator in the grill.

It says diesel in the ad but shows a gasser in the picture.

But...it also says "Stock Photo" so I'd guess the description was right.

At a minimum I would look for 3 slides, opposing slides in the living area makes a world of difference

For that budget you should be able to pick up a nice used MH like ours, 2008 Newmar Kountry Star, Spartan MM chassis, Cummins ISC or ISL (optional), and Comfort Drive, a feature no one other than Newell current offers.

Here is one example, they're fairly easy to find;

2008 Kountry Star

The 2008 and newer will have Comfort Drive (a must have IMO), the older ones will not.
