The screws are under the sealant. There are three. Just follow the cap down and use a putty knife to clear sealant, then unscrew the screws.

Was wondering, how do I get the cap off the black/gray vents on the roof? I want to run a hose down and clear them. I think I have a blockage. I don't see any screws or releases. Do they just snap off? I don't want to break one.

Thanks.

Just wondered if those of you that are having cracking on the sidewalls of you tires already used tire covers on a regular basis or any of the sprays that are supposed to protect tires from UV damage? Or do you live in a part of the country where you can use your RV year round? It would be nice to know if the excessive cracking you are seeing is probably due to environmental factors because you are using your RVs more and the tires are thus exposed to more UV rays.

Thanks,

I'll probably stick with the 235/80R's, but I haven't got a quote yet.

I did call Michelin back and got a little better explanation when I asked what was the point of taking them in for inspection. They said, even though they don't warranty for cracking due to weather and ozone, there's a good chance they will give me a reduction on replacement cost based on remaining tread on the tire/s. So I guess I'll at least take them in and see what their offer is. If it's not too good, then I'm still going to check on Goodyear's. Due to a trip coming up, not motorhome trip, I won't know anything until around June 8th or 9th.

I have 27,000 miles on the tires, it is not parked more than a few months a year. I use 303 on them, cover them most of the time and if parked longer than a week I put wood under them. This is the first time I ever had Michelin and this is the first time I ever had this type of a problem. This is the same thing we did with Goodyear tires we always had before. I was just wondering if it was just my bad luck or is this a problem Michelin has.

Sounds like you are just having some bad luck with your tires. We are not seeing any cracking problems and haven't been as diligent in taking all the precautions that you have taken to prevent premature sun damage. Hope Michelin does something for you.

dKingdoe - Do you order the replacement from Fleetwood? How much is the part? Labor?
Thanks, Gary

Gary, We didn't order directly from Fleetwood. The dealer we bought our MoHo from ordered and installed it. We're not handy when it comes to this kinda stuff. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Charges were ... 147.01 + tax
Labor = 90.00
Parts = 57.01 (11oz. Dicor Lap seal 2@7.79 = 15.58 / Exterior skylight dome = 28.49 / shop supplies = 12.94)

As stated before, we'll have the kitchen dome replaced in the next week or so.

I was washing my P/A and noticed that all of my tires has small little cracks around the center part of the side walls. I don't know how long they have been there, I use 303 on the ties and you can't see the cracks unless you wash the tire down with a brush. I have a 2004, does anyone else have this? Do the small crack speed up the time to start looking for new tires?

Paul... My 2004 tires are also cracking. Actually the left front is cracking really bad. The right is the next worse, then the two outside duals are less, but still cracking. I haven't gotten under to inspect the inside duals.

I called Michelin at their #800 number and complained. They said the tires are normally warrantied for 5 years, although I don't know if that includes premature cracking. They assigned me a File # and gave me a couple of dealers to take the moho in to have the tires inspected. Don't know as yet what Michelin will do, if anything. But I'm sure going to try. If they make good on them, fine. But if I end of having to replace them myself I'm switching to Goodyear. Goodyear at least gives a written four year warranty against premature cracking.

In June '07 we will have had our PA for 2 years, and back in February we had to have the skylight over the shower replaced because it was cracked and leaking into the shower and into the roof area. And now I've ordered another one to replace the one in the kitchen area, because it is cracked and leaking. We were told that when they went in to remove the old one (over the shower) it was 'very' brittle and just fell apart. I said, "it's less than 2 years old and shouldn't be that brittle." He said that when they originally installed them they probably had been sitting in the warehouse for a long time. So that means they were aged when we got them. I've often thought about writing to Fleetwood about this, but just haven't.

Anyone else have this problem?

Don't thighten them real tight. File off the areas where it touches making the noise, you should be able to see the "rubbing" area where it touches. That fixed mine.

One more. I found a 2000 watt portable inverter for only $150 so I picked it up to see if maybe I could plug my microwave into it when we are at State campgrounds and can't use the generater after 8 PM. ( When I bought the coach my estimate to install a 2500 watt built in inverter was over $3000 which seemed to high at the time for the few times we need it).

My model is the 36D. I got some 4' lengths of #2 battery connect wire. I have 4 house batteries, two pairs of 6 volt in series. The pair I added are in the second compartment to the left (rear) of the entry door. (I did not put them in the first compartment as I wanted to save that one for the lounge chairs).

I need to run wire from the kitchen area into the large compartment directly underneath. Either a heavy duty extension cord down to the inverter, or the two battery wires plus ground up to the inverter say under the sink.

Anybody found a way to run wire from this compartment to under the sink, or any other suggestions?

I found out that this horrible squeek was coming from the two tall plastic trim pieces that attach to each side of the interior windshield. They attach with three screws and are easy to remove. I tried silicone and also vaseline, but it still squeeks. When you remove it you will see they removed the excess molded material with a very rough cut saw or grinder, so the edge is VERY rough, so it makes noise when it rubs.

Any suggestions on a lubicant that would be thick enough to overcome this problem??

Regarding the issue of covering the RV from my prior post - Thanks for the replies. I bought a cover, and put it on the RV using the "pull up from the side using the tiedown straps" method. I took it back to Camping World the next day.

Way too much work, too heavy, too big, too hard to see where you're walking, it hangs up on everthing on the roof (like the horns)and to top it off I stepped on the edge of my rear skylight and cracked off a small piece. Much easier to just wash it.

By the way the plastic on the skylights , after two years, has gotton very brittle and therefore fragile. Lousy plastic.

An update from Michelin regarding my tire cracking issue. I received the following email response from Michelin yesterday:

QUOTE:
Thank you for your email. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you. I am very sorry to learn that you are experiencing sidewall cracking on your RV tires. The warranty on Michelin's RV tires is a five-year workmanship and materials warranty which DOES NOT
include cracking from age of the tire, weather checking and/or ozone cracking. I would still like the opportunity to assist you
with the replacement costs of the tires. If the tires are holding air at the present time, I would like to ask that you please
visit Tire Centers, Inc. (TCI) for a tire inspection. The dealer will need to phone us while you are there to report their results
and at that time, I will be better able to evaluate and offer any assistance. UNQUOTE:

I haven't contacted them back yet, but can't help but wonder what's the point of taking the moho to the dealer to inspect the tires when they already admit they are not going to do anything about them. I also can't believe they'd think I would replace the tires on my dime, when that dime might amount to $2,000 for six new tires that even though brand new might not last for another 3 years.

I guess I'll be looking at Goodyears, because as the Goodyear web page "dkingdoe" references, QUOTE: Goodyear's warranty for weather cracking is four years from purchase date (or four years from manufacture date if proof of purchase is not available). UNQUOTE:
