I still do not understand how a safe-t-plus contraption would help in this situation.

You don't need to hold the steering wheel straight----------you need to TURN it to the right (with LF tire blowing).

When I had a LF tire blow, the steering wheel did NOT jerk to the left-----------although the MH moved to the left. The driver must quickly counter steer. A contraption to keep your steering pointed straight ahead would not be an aid.

Where did the trucker state this? From the video, the trucker appears to be driving above "70mph." Watch how fast the white stripes are flying by in the vid. IF he said "70 mph," it's because he knows that to be the speed limit along that stretch of I-10. I'm certain it's not above 70mph there, since I travel that exact stretch of Interstate highway since it opened in the mid-1970s.

Morally or legally was he going too fast? And what conditions? Seemed dry and sunny in the video. Was he blinded by the sun? I drive my MH at the speed limit on flat land (as fast as 75) and I don't see an issue. I have driven 80 and that is a little speedy for my blood. Truckers do it on the same tires and my TOADs are not restricted by speed.

Am I missing something?

So much BUNK! If the tires are RATED at 70 mph...what speed is their actual FAILURE speed! The blowout could have been caused by any one of a dozed reasons

I'm not sure if it was mentioned yet, but the motorhome ended up in the travel lanes blocking both. There was an additional picture posted somewhere that I saw when the event originally happened.

Thank goodness the traffic moved on and there just happened to be an open spot for the motorhome to land. Could have been even worse.

Pleased to finally hear there were no fatalities. Fox News ran the clip a gillion times shortly after the accident and not once reported the condition of the occupants. Guess that was an unimportant little detail that took a back seat to a spectacular video.

THe point is SLOW DOWN. Buses are another pain in the ass they go way too fast I was going to Minnesota to visit my aunt and one of those tour buses passed me by like I was standing still and I was doing 69. I can't stand some of these drivers and they cost us more in insurance and more laws get passed., the only good thing is that the greedy salvage yards get more parts to sell at a horrible price at least the one in Carthage.

I haden't seen anything from the truck driver. I guess HE was going too fast as well. But the point is taken. The blowout MAY have been caused by excessive speed and the wreck may have been caused by the same. Blowouts are caused by many things. Maybe he brought it on himself. Hard to say for sure.
