Tank gauges seldom work correctly!

The old days they always told us the gauges didn't work reliably because the probes in the tank got dirty! Now whats there excuse with my new one with the external senders nothing internal but they still can't be trusted!!I suppose todays story is that build up on the inside of the tank prevents proper reading??The RV store has rows of costly chemicals but do any of them work!Maybe I am the only one with this problem? Any hints will be appreciated

I installed Hoarst (sp) probes on my black tank and love them they sell kits for all of the tanks and install was easy and straight forward. Also I started using Unique Digest it and when I dump its nothing but liquid. I also use the black tank flush after every dump. The just add 2oz of digest it and voila. They also claim that using this product will clean your sensors.

No longer in stock/available except maybe some old stock laying around at Amazon.
Is it time for your medication or mine?

My original in tank sensors work perfect as they have since new in 2001. The secret is to use an in tank flusher and use lots of water when you flush.

You can clean your tank with some water softener and dish soap. Read HERE for the how to.

All my tanks gauges are on the outside of the tanks and they don't work properly. When I want to know how much water is in my freshwater tank I lift the bed up and look down at the tank. For my black water, I hold the drain open and look down there with flashlight. For the grey; if water is backing up in the kitchen sink-time to dump!

I use the basic chemicals that have been around for eons for the use in RV and Marine vehicles. There is a reason these products are made and sold.:W They break down waste and paper so the big clumps don't stick to the sides and the sensors.

Every time I dump I fill it back up with water and dump again.
Just run water in the bathroom sink to fill the black tank. No need to drag a hose in.

Been doing it this way for years and MY gauges work ALL the time!
So YES it does matter how and what you put into the black tank.

You will hear everything from the magical GEO method which is a softener that does nothing more than coat the sensors to using nothing. And all of them will tell you gauges just don't work. :R

Get the See Level system and all those issues go away. Works well every time. Accurate, easy to install.

Install in tank flusher that will rinse the sensor area directly. I have the original tank flush device and added one as stated. I use quick disconnects to switch between the two. Sensors work great now.

Maybe whatever is going into your tanks does not have the proper conductivity. Try eating more broccoli.
