Unhooking toad at campground

We purchased our first class A a few months ago. We recently got all set up so we can use our F150 as our toad. Our first vacation with the toad is coming up and now my wife can't go (boo) due to a family health issue, but she is insisting that the kids and I still go. My concern is when I get to the campground, since I am the only driver, how do I unhook the toad and get it to the site without getting in the way and holding everybody else up, as it will take me a while to do everything by myself? I have never really paid attention to where and how others unhook their toads.

I've always done all of it by myself anyway, and it's never been a problem. I've never failed to find a handy space to drop off the toad. And, I don't mind walking back to get it.

Also you could get a pull-thru site.

I travel solo and pull a toad.

X3 My DW does not drive either the MH and does not unhook the toad. Don't overthink it, just pull up,unhook and park it. They'll wait for you and if they honk at you, just wait till they are unhooking and go honk at them.

I pretty much always unhook at the reception/check in area. We are 65' long and it's just so much easier maneuvering in a strange park without the toad. In fact, many places will suggest that at check in.

It takes about 2 minutes to unhook the toad and dolly and get them out of the way. Hooking them up to leave takes longer so I usually try to find an open area for that. Pull through sites eliminate any hassle as they are long enough to do it all while parked in your site.

Word of caution. Pulling into a site can get you into a bad angle that can bind the tow bar. also steep hills make it harder/ more dangerous. Level wide spot is what you are looking for. Move the toad out of the way, park the RV then walk back to get the toad. Some times there is no easy way and you just have to take your time and do it right and safe. Some CG are designed better that others. As was said before, don't over think it.

This is exactly what I do if I have any question about impeding traffic. Most campgrounds have an area that will take care of all your unhitching problems. Just ask.

The only time I get annoyed is when people fill their water tanks at a spigot, but stop smack dab in the middle of the road when there is room to pull over (or they could have filled up at the potable water tap at the dump station). Filling water tanks is not a two minute job.

I don't mind waiting for trucks and trailers/5th wheels pulling in/out- in fact I sympathize having done that in the past. Same for toads, I try to stay to the side or have the DW drive the toad to a parking lot.
If I was alone I still think I would un-hook close to my camp site and move the toad out of the way.

Go and enjoy your trip and don't worry when hooking/unhooking.

When in doubt, ask the person at the desk when you check in where you can disconnect the toad.

This is also something I do. My wife does not hook or unhook the toad. A pull through site works great. Just pulling to one side of the road that your site is on would work too. When people are checking into their site, there is usually a delay for folks anyway. Most will understand if you back up traffic for a short time. Depending on how old your children are, this may be a good time to start driving fundamentals. ๐Ÿ™‚

Depends on the park. No single answer.

I normally just go to the site park to the side of the road so others can go around, unhook move the toad if in the way then back the RV in.

IF I can't do this I will unhook near the check-in since there is usually extra space, drive the "toad" to the site that way I can check it out plan how to best set up then go get the RV.

It has never been a problem that I couldn't work out with minimum inconvenience to others or myself.

I can unhook or hookup our toad in less than 5 minutes. When my wife is able to help it takes a couple of minutes less. I always try to unhook in an area where others can get around us, but if that's not possible, I just try to hurry a bit more. No one has ever complained to me.

I always try and find a place in the campground where I can hook or unhook and, other vehicles can still get around me. I do this as a courtesy for others. As far as hooking or unhooking goes I don't want anyone helping me. I have a series of checks and double checks that I go thru and I don't want any distractions. I try and do the same pattern of things over and over.
