Vandalism

Well, my rig got vandalized. The storage yard called me and said I better stop by. Turns out a guy was checking his rig a few spots over from mine and was smelling the strong odor of gasoline. They walked around and saw one of my compartment doors partially open... The generator compartment! Some crack-head yanked my generator out! The manager found it nearby (followed the drag marks) next to the perimeter fence. Looks like they were planning on returning with more muscle or some other way of getting it out of the yard (It's heavy). Some other compartment doors had been jimmied but could have been much worse. And, a nearly full tank of gas is now on the ground.

I'll see how well Geico takes care of this. Anybody have something like this happen to them? Any pointers on dealing with insurance or the repair shop would be appreciated.
Thanks.

You certainly have a beautiful place there. Wish it was closer to Palm Springs.

23 Miles from 111 to our door. Heck you are an RV'er. You should be used to traveling! 🙂

We checked out your place just when it was completed. Our rental unit is 26 miles from the house in Indio, your place is over 30 miles from our house in Palm Springs.

The mileage difference is not the issue. It's when the winds are up I don't have to get on the I-10, I can hug hwy 111 to Indio and miss the blowing sand. There is no way to miss it through the pass going to Beaumont.

Again, you have a beautiful place, I've ordered a new 2015 Prevost that we should get in October if all goes well. I sure wish there was a place like yours in Palm Springs or Desert Hot Springs. I don't want to go through the pass.

My advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

Wow that sucks! Can't really see much coming of it unless there is a rash of similar break ins at storage facilities. Can't blame the cops either on an individual case but I'm sure if it becomes prevalent either the thieves screw up and almost beg to get caught, or the cops will have enough combined evidence to solve the crime.

Regarding the justice system, I think in many ways it is like our schools.....broken. Too many people in prison who really don't need to be there such as white collar crime leaving to many on the streets who should be locked up.

My gennie compartment doesn't have a lock on it. Not sure why they tried to break into some of the other compartments and not others. I've never thought about leaving them unlocked and don't think I'll do that.

Towing it to the shop tomorrow.

My RV was broken into last year. They broke out the passenger window by throwing a rock through it. They went through all the compartments and tossed everything out. They left my entire Bose Speaker system including Bass, as well as my Kenwood receiver and other items. They didnt steal anything, but set off both Fire Extinguishers in the RV. This took 2 days for me to clean up and the window was only $100. They didn't bust any of my compartments open because I leave them unlocked to prevent that. My Zero Gravity chairs and bbq is chained to a cross member. Nothing taken, but alot of damage was done.

I did move my RV for almost a year, but moved it back as it was closer to my home (by 10 miles) and is only 1 mile away. The storage area fixed some loose fencing and had a Deputy patrol a few times a night.

Purple stripe on a tree here means "no hunting" according to the hunting laws.

Interesting. Never seen them here in the east. Thanks.

I'd never heard of it either....

But it's called the 'Purple Paint Law' in Illinois and similar statues in Missouri, Arkansas and Texas.

Saw some trees in MO painted with purple vertical stripe but didn't know what it was...thought the trees had been marked for removal.
Is it time for your medication or mine?
