water pump replacement

I am looking to replace the fresh water pump on my 37' Class A. I was thinking about the Shurflo Extreme 5.7, but I have heard they have been discontinued and that they had reliability problems. I am looking for a high flow and pressure pump. Does anybody have any personal experiences of what would be a good pump?

I don't see much need for a high flow pump when the faucets are limited to 2.2 GPM at 60 PSI by law in the US.

Mine was replaced by the factory 2 years ago with a -4048 (IIRC) and I hated it. It turned into a backup for the Flojet. I dont think they are servicing the 5.7's at all

They're more expensive, but the FloJet VSD is a variable speed pump with good pressure.

The 5.7 had many problems for lots of people but mine has been working great for ten years. It is an absolutely stellar performer - very quiet and strong. It has no problems with surge and it runs very slow and smooth under low flow conditions.
I honestly don't know that I'd recommend it though based on all the failures. OTOH, Shure Flow was always good about replacing them for the folks that did have issues.

Unless something has changed, the Sureflo 5.7 was discontinued because of the massive problems it had. Be very careful about buying one, it might be a leftover.

I have not seen the variable pumps recently. I did not find them at Shurflo website.
This would be a good replacement.

Be careful about buying a pump that has TOO high a flow rate because it will always be running at low capacity and may surge ie. produce a fluctuating flow.
We have the Shurflo 4.0 variable speed pump and it has been working perfectly for several years.
After checking the Shurflo website it looks like the variable speed pumps have gone the way of the buggy whips being replaced by a single speed pump with a bypass arrangement that produces a single output pressure by bypassing the flow that is not needed.
