We had a transmission oil flush and replaced the filter. Bought the rig last December and have had some transmission overheating problems the past few months. We added a transmission thermostat and cooler, plus a temp guage just recently, and decided to do a flush so everything was new and ready to go. Planning to leave for Puerto Penasco Mexico tomorrow morning for a weekend trip. Very excited to be getting out of town and going to the beach!

Not really installed in our MH, but I installed a Ready Brake in our toad. Very easy to install and so far seems to work great.

I changed my Allison 1000 transmission fluid to the TES-295 synthetic fluid that Allison recommends to extend the warranty and service intervals. I bought 3 gals of the BP "Autran Syn 295" and only had to use 10 qts. It says I can use the two extra qts. in anything that uses Automatic Transmission Fluid because it is backwards compatible with all other tranny fluids. This was my recommended 25,000 mile service under the old DEXRON III fluid that came in the tranny when new in 2004. I have not driven it yet, so I can't tell you if it made any "feelable" difference.

We just bought a 30' Gulfstream class A 2 weeks ago, 3 slides..Has a really cool 3rd slide called a sunroom with a small dinette table and 2 chairs..Ford drivetrain....

Been busy getting it to our liking altho with 5K miles it was in pretty good shape...Only thing that did not work were the w/s washers...Traced it to the turn signal arm, wasn't getting 12v to the pump at the resovior...So bypassed the arm and installed a switch under the dash...A slight inconvenience but better than taking the turn signal arm apart and the hassles that involves....

So that is my main project...Alot of waxing and cleaning the carpets, cleaning the roof, etc...Now to use it..!!

Let's see, washed the roof (or rather DH did), I cleaned the windshield, washed the front cap, and then, sanded rust off the freezer racks and repainted them,

DH checked the A/C units and cleaned them some, and then I went to turn on the Fan - tastic fan but it wouldn't come on so I fiddled with the knob at the side of the fan, you know, the one that says pull for manual, push for auto?

--- well, I pulled and both screw brackets broke, and the whole assembly came loose in my hand! Sooo ---- I called Fan - tastic to see about getting a replacement part... and they --- they renewed my faith in customer service.. those people are wonderful!! Said they'd have the new part out to me in today's mail and there would be NO CHARGE! What ?!? Are you kidding me?

More washing and waxing of the rig tomorrow... but wow, it's looking good!

I've been winterizing my rig... plastic over the windows, heat tape on the water line, 400w worth of lights around my black/gray tanks, and almost ready to skirt it. All this while my air conditioner is going ๐Ÿ™‚ It was 94 yesterday but it's been cooling off into the low 40s (and occasionally into the upper 30s) at night.

Today the "Satellite Man" is coming to install an Explorer automatic dish for my StarChoice TV. No more fighting with compass, level, and running in and out of the rig looking for signs of a signal!

On edit:

Now complete, found the satellite in 15 seconds! 92/100 on the signal strength scale.

Now I can sit and watch the home news channel, LMAO as I soak up the sun. :B

I am waiting for the UPS truck to deliver my new air filter for my coach. I will probably get it installed and get ready to drive up to Albuquerque and catch part of the Balloon Fiesta.
I won't be leaving though until the eighth of next month. So I will catch a few days of it. We will probably stay at the Sandia Casino's parking lot, it is close by and we like to go to the casino anyways.

Normally weโ€™d be hunting in the west now, but the trip was cancelled due to my 88 year old FILโ€™s illness. He died by inches and all of that was horrible (especially since he was such a great guy), but we are now past that and the funeral; and Iโ€™ve gotten his estate started. We are planning on leaving on an extended western hunting trip this weekend โ€“ can sure use some time away thinking about other things.

So, I can FINALLY make a post here. Hurray!! Today, I leveled the MH, filed the water tank and started the refrig in preparation for loading it for the trip.

Snowfetehr โ€“ FWIW, other than keeping it clean or fixing things on a temporary and emergency basis, I do no work on my MH. I pay people to do that for me. I do this partly because I am no mechanic; and partly because I make FAR more money by working at my regular profession for an hour than I would save by doing an hourโ€™s worth of mechanical work. While I admire those who do their own work, it does not pay me to do that in any sense of the word. Therefore, there is at least one person besides yourself (and I suspect there are many others) who doesnโ€™t do all of that stuff.

Moved my 20" Flatscreen to the bedroom and added a 40" HDTV Flatscreen to the living room...Dishnet work is now offering a FREE upgrade to a HDTV DVR, so if you're thinking of doing the same thing, do it NOW.........

I also broke down and installed a new screen door latch.........The manufacturer wanted 57 bucks for the plastic part and I resisted buying it for about a year......I couldn't come up with a better way to hold the screen door closed tightly, so I had to get the junk part......I know it will snap again in about a year because this is about the third or fourth catch I've replaced....

OK Last week I did all the maintance and waxing as posted. This week my 50' roll of B-Quite sound deadening/heat sheild material came in. So my goal was to sound proof the whole engine area on my 03 Southwind with the 8.1. After several hours and a few cuts and scrapes I got the whole dog house & engine bay covered with B-Quite. I even did the under side of the fiberglass dash which was visable from under the front grill opening. I was amazed at how little insulation their was on some parts of the coach.

When done I knocked on the dash and doghouse access door the sound was much more solid. I drove it around and the engine sounds much more muffled, but the fan clutch never turned on and that is when the most noise is heard, so I dont really know how much of an improvment I have made yet. Same with the heat reduction as it takes a bit of a road trip to start feeling some heat through the floor.

Our next weekend trip is at the end of the month so I should have a better idea on how well the sound deadening helped.
