MoHo Repairs

When I got back from our last trip I had the following repairs or upgrades on my list,

Fix Fridge, reigniter need to be replaced. X
Fix left amber sidelight, loose joint in light housing. X
Find cold air leak, in foot area on passenger side.
Install 12v outlets in cabinet above passenger seat X
Check converter, flickering lights and charge circuit erratic. X
Leak in rear seam, filon cut too short and not covered by molding.
Install light over dash, nice for looking at maps or directories at night.
Insulate doghouse, noise and heat abatement.
Fix step, making weird noises.
Replace trim piece at head of my bed, glue failed. X
Rewax front cap, mechanic used strong chemical on it, removed the finish. X
Install new light over dinette, getting older need more light.
Clean carpet and runner, itโ€™s been several years & lots of traffic.
Fix leak in plumbing, turned out I had fixed it on trip. X
Reinstall closet floor and dresser, removed when working on leak. X
Shorten bathroom heater hose, had kink in it . X
Make bezel for HVAC panel, 22 year old plastic.
Make bezel for Front TV, same as above.
Replace screws for furnace exhaust vents/trim putty, cosmetic and Tech stripped holes. X
Tighten fastons on HVAC panel, too many on and offs.
Lube Antenna, vents, exterior locks, step X
Remount towed light connectors on MH and towed, just a cosmetic thing.
Check all drawer guides, having trouble with drawer guides coming apart. X
Make new fan assembly and install new light in kitchen exhaust fan, reduce noise.

I have since added the following,

Replace power cord male fitting, cable sheath pulled loose from molded head. X
Strengthen bed frames, screws holding bed frame put into foam siding and luan. X
Make two new leveling ramps out of 2X8 lumber, broke on trip(my fault).
Find better review mirror for right side blind spot, donโ€™t like blind spot.
Make new window covers, old ones were cardboard w/sunrot.
Find a new magnet for entry door screen, fell out.
Install 12V outlet in bedroom for CPAP, need to use it on the road.

I have finished those marked with an X, but there is more wrong with the converter, lights wouldnโ€™t work when I got to the storage yard, jiggled fuse panel and they worked. So now it looks like Iโ€™ll have to pull it out to find loose wire.

I need to do more to the front cap above the windshield, DW doesnโ€™t like me getting up there so I have to wait for a nice day and she is gone

I thought I had found the air leak at the foot space on the passengerโ€™s side of cockpit but DGS informed me last nigh I hadnโ€™t, now I need to make cover for a window with a connector for my shop vac in order to pressurize the interior.

The mounting plate for the new exhaust fan has been laid out on the aluminum but not cut. Changed out the lamps in the vent and installed higher wattage so I think that will do for now.

I have decided what to do about the leaking seam half way down the back of the rear, Iโ€™m going to have it fiber glassed and painted, I have a quart of matching paint so I will save a little there.

Most of the other stuff just requires either buying the items needed or making them, but Iโ€™m having knee surgery tomorrow so they are all put off for a week or two so newly purchased items or Christmas presents should be here by then.

Whanna help?

Good start. If we drop by on our way home from Mexico in March will you do ours? :B

I replaced the heater core this weekend. I noticed it was leaking a couple of weeks ago. I recently purchased this RV and the seller stated that the AC did not work very well. When changing out the heater core I realized that the actuator was not functioning (it was stuck in the heat position) I took it to napa and mached it up, $50 later I hope the AC will blow cold. Its hard to judge now if its working.

spent a chilly weekend intalling the inverter (wagan 3000w) including a romex 120vac output line to a gfi I installed next to the generator output plug under the galley sink. that was a bigger job than anticipated. I seem to be slow.

then I started doing tank heaters. freshwater tank heater is in. I started doing the switch panel install for it. I need to get a buss bar for the grounds. There isn't one on my rig. I had puzzle over that for while.

Changed out a 120v contact relay. It seems the grounding part was going bad. Normal price is about $50-$60, got this one from an electrical supply store for $35. It seems now that one is fixed that 2 others are letting us know they are going to go bad so we will just go ahead and replace the other 5 all at once.
The Bendix Cruise Control manifold was leaking real bad. Our choices were to find the part and replace just the part or replace the whole thing. Most people replace the whole thing since Bendix no longer makes the part for it. Complete replacement would have been around $600. We lucked out and found a place that still had some of the manifolds. Got the part for $50. Replaced it and no more hissing. We will know by next weekend if its all the way fixed. We want to make sure of no slow leeks ๐Ÿ™‚ $50 is way better than $600 right now.
