I spent a lot of time doing research before I went. Salesman had little idea what an RV was or what features mine had. Bought from CW because it was the unit I wanted at a price I was willing to pay.
Mine was a used Newmar Scottsdale 2006.
Had a lot of trouble getting things taken care of we agreed to before the sale. Took about a month.
Service after the sale was quality work, but the service writers really messed everything up and took lots of phone calls and down time to get work done.
1. Do your homework
2. Get EVERYTHING in writing
3. Check everything works before the sale

CW was an awesome catalog outlet for RV accessories when Garvin had it. Where else could you really go to find a folding dish rack or party lights. There was no Amazon, no internet, just the dingy Dealer parts shelves with special order parts that nobody picked up cluttering the shelves.

CW opened a retail store in CO back in the 80s, and I was in heaven! I would spend hours going up and down the isles just amazed at all the cool stuff. Twice a year I would fill my cart, and often it was items from start out entrepreneurs and inventors that just enjoyed camping and had a good idea.

Now - those dingy parts rooms at the Dealer are gone, along with the Dealer, in favor of what everyone became familiar with, Camping World. As a society we love homogenized cities and business - Walmart, Chiles, Home Depot, Carmax, and Camping World. We somehow flock to the brightly colored t-shirts and store fronts with some kind of false trust. Camping World capitalized on that, quite successfully. Unfortunately, what they offer is very focused on what they know, and the specialized expertise we used get has retired.

My direct experience with CW in Olive Branch, MS.

In summer of 2014, we put our 2008 Monaco Dynasty on consignment at Motorhomes of Texas in Nacogdoches, TX. I wanted to change out the new Beauty Rest pillow-top mattress we installed a few years before as it is a great mattress. We threw out the old Sleep by Number piece of junk mattress (will never own another).

And, who wants to buy an RV with 'previously-slept-on-mattress'? So, I ordered a nice new RV mattress from Camping World in Olive Branch, MS. The order was lost and finally reordered. Since I was needing the mattress in a timely manor (driving the coach to Motorhomes of Texas for consignment), the store clerk delivered the mattress to my home for free instead of me picking it up.

I hate to see the negativity of CW but they have to own it.

Safe travels,
MM.

My direct experience with CW in Albuquerque, NM.

In 2012 I went in to CW to buy 4 new Bilstein shocks for my 1999 Ford F53. (One of the most popular gasser chassis around. The Ford chassis uses the same F & R shocks for something like +-11 consecutive production model years.)

The CW parts guy told me, "Oh my God no, we won't have those in stock they are too old. That would be a special order, plus shipping, plus sales tax plus two weeks delivery time IF we can even get them." Hummmmmmmm. I left without placing the order.

Google is my friend. I bought the shocks from the first place I found online in Florida at half CW's quoted price including shipping and no sales tax. Lets see, . . . . their web site said they had 56 rears and 58 fronts in stock. How many would you like? The shocks were on my doorstep via FedEx ground in 3 days. Just my experience. YMMV

Of course it's my personal opinion but there has been some studies done on the subject, that I might give reference to.
Dealer Reputation
Then again, I've seen people getting a lot of good, after the sale type service and whatnot. After finding out what they paid for it and what some might term as super duper retail and more, it's a wonder that they didn't receive a lot more of this celebrity type treatment.
I guess we could ask for a poll here, as to how many paid a fair price, received no lies whatsoever and had excellent after the sale service.

The link is all about car sales people. I would never say there are not bad sales people an even more that there are bad dealers no doubt
I just don't like to paint everyone with the same colour and brush so to speak
however this thread was all about Camping world not sales people in general
seems like Camping World in general has a bad sales representation
for sure if you base it on the few posters here whom express such things
I personally think Motor Home Specialist Inc of texas are very dishonest sales wise but there service personal were outstanding

All true, but even the best of salesmen lie, which I think was the topic at hand here. Lying sales people that is....lol
In my long experience, I'd rather take all the money I can possibly save and run, rather than rely on warranties, promises and great service.

second off that's just your personal opinion.Mine is there are lots of good honest sales people out there.

Well that doesn't say much and it goes without saying that all salesmen lie, otherwise they're in the wrong business and will have to seek another line of employment for survival. This goes for CW or any other Dealership.
It's you against them and boils down to getting the right price, so as to have the money to cover all these lies and no matter what he says about taking care of things that aren't right, before or after delivery.

I can tell you one dealer who is a straight shooter with competent service in Georgia....They also have a Texas location....Tom Johnson was bought out by Camping World and now is run like one...I am too OCD for the average dealer and the Georgia dealer treated me well.

man oh man you americans sure like to hate people whom sell things like RVs,I have never read so many hate full comments about sales people and RV dealers
my gawd its hard to believe when I read a lot of comments on here.I mean is it really that bad all over the usa?

Sometimes the truth must be told. One or two people who knows but the amount of negative feedback about Camping World obviously has some validity.

If one particular Canadian Dealer represented here is any sample of the RV dealerships in Canada, I beginning to think we have no complaints here in the USA. Jeezoots, I have never heard such a snarky mouthed Dealer. According to him, we are all walking dumb asses.

REALLY well heres one of your fellow americans that disagrees
