Good Afternoon All, I am considering buying a RV760 LMT for use in the truck. If anyone has one of these units please send me your comments. I would be interest in battery life, Tech support and comment about use on the road (we driving on state and Interstate road way). Other comments welcome as well. Thanks. Jim2007

My old Garmin 850 only searches in the state I'm in. It never looks outside the state.

For example, I live in Virginia. If I put in a city, it will show cities in Virginia only. If I'm looking for restaurants or points of interest, it will look for them in Virginia.

If I'm traveling south, but still in Virginia, but want to find an address, or restaurant, or point of interest, in North Carolina, I change the state before looking for an address, or restaurant, or point of interest.

Uh huh. Right.

Oh, here's some more fun stuff. While driving through Las Vegas from the south, heading to Mesquite, it wants me to exit at Eastern Ave and get back on the freeway. It also has no idea there's a Chevron gas station/truck stop/fireworks/booze outlet at the Valley of Fire exit to 169.

I guess I better learn to use the voice search.

I've never had a problem with search either.

For example, speaking the following phrases:

Voice Command, Find Category, Near Destination, Grocery

Also have done this on the interstate

Voice Command, Find Place, Along Route, McDonalds

Using the menus, pretty sure my searches default to "Near Me" or Near Current Location, some phrasing like that. You can also override and give it a different location to search.

I could see it having trouble, using it indoors perhaps, when it doesn't have a satellite lock. My first GPS, a Garmin GPS III would default to Garmin HQ in Japan when it didn't have satellites.

I don't want to enter the entire city and state. I'm traveling today.. I'll provide an example later.

neither one of my Garmin's.. 2597 and the Dezl 770 does not do that...

enter search.. then enter city or state.

Great product. The large screen makes it possible to still see and read the screen as you are driving and bouncing down the road. You can also set up the Garmin with the height of your trailer which will warn you if your trailer will not clear the height of an underpass. The split screen visual picture of freeway exit lanes you are approaching is very helpful. I have run the Garmin for about 1 hr. with just the battery. I always run with my Garmin plugged into the truck. I have had 3 different Garmins and each one has improved with more features.
I have the RV770 model.

Does the Rv770 model give warning of lane change in advance of
a exit? Thanks JIm2007

Yes, I like the split screen visual of the lanes and exit.

I have the 760 with up to date maps. All I have to do is turn it on and it will get me lost. I will never trust it again. I use a trucker's atlas to plan my route and use the GPS to look ahead for diesel, food, etc. My phone has a better map program. The last time I was on I40 in Oklahoma it kept telling me I had to exit as there was a low bridge ahead (I'm under 12 feet high). I noticed the 18 wheelers were not exiting so I decided to take a chance but the Garmin kept telling me to exit. Made it all the way to New Mexico and never saw a low bridge. It has done similar mid-directions many times. Just saying...

Imma get the new one, it's brand new model.

Well it'S not "RV", it'S truck but essencialy does the same, less the point of interest.
It's a hobby for me to make things better!
See I was able to post using full words!!

I opted for the 770 as it has WiFi updates for maps and software. No computer required.

X1! Voice recognition and large screen are outstanding.
