Generic remote for DirecTV?

Search was not working for me this morning, so will ask - is there any universal remote that will work with DirecTV? I just had my third DirecTV RC65 remote break and getting tired of buying them! This is the second time the little switch at the top that switches between components - something inside just broke off and is rattling around. Hoping there is something more reliable that works with DirecTV basic features at least.

Yup - Solid Signal - think the special today or yesterday is/was a Directv remote for $8. ST

Check out a place called SolidSignal.com
I have bought Direct remotes from them.
Fast service, great prices. If you get on their mailing list you really get special prices, they have a product of the day special every day.

Only failed after a lot of years of use.

Ditto on replacements from Amazon - probably cheaper than a universal remote......and for sure it does all the "right things" with your DirecTV box.

Are there any Universal Reomotes that will work with DirecTV.. Answer depends on how much control you want..

Basic (Channel and possibly moving through some menus) many starting at $1.00 (Yup the six in one from teh dollar store may do it, do not know)

If you want FULL FUNCTIONS.. yes, but hold on to your wallet a replacement OEM is cheaper.

Learning remotes still exist as well.. though you need at least one Genuine article to use one of those.

I'm using a Logitech Harmony 890 with RF extender which controls all the "hidden" stuff in cabinets in the RV including the DTV receiver, a Sony sound system, a Roku, a Blu-ray player in addition to the TV.

Just an FYI. Phone apps will not work with a basic DTV receiver. Only those with a LAN connection.

I just purchased a Sony Make.believe universal remote PM-VZ320. Its working perfectly on my Vizio TV and my DirectTV receiver. It was about $14.00 at Target.
My original Direct TV remote just got too hard to make it work smoothly. Had to hit switches over and over and over again to get results.

While not cheap, I got hooked on the Harmony remotes from Logitech. It controls all my devices and turns on all the components for each function I choose to use.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

There are free apps for smart phones and tablets that work well that turn your device into Directv remote. The Google play store has a number of them.
At home I use a Logitech Harmony universal to operate tv, Directv receiver and audio system (cost around $100)

You must be awfully hard on them I still have a couple that must be 5-6 years old now and still working perfectly.
But to answer the question, yes. Harmony sells a programmable universal remote that should work. You can get then at places like best buy or search online for other dealers.
