T Mobil pay as you go 4G wi fi?

I have verizon cell service with an older unlimited data plan. I don't want to pay every month to add a 4g wi fi hot spot to the plan when all I will ever need is an ocasional 30 day or even 60 day wifi option when away from home.

It seems camp ground wifi is spotty and not reliable. I called t mobile as they have a wifi device, sim card and they told me I can do a pre paid short term wifi plan. 5g for $50 and no overages fees if you exceed it, it just gets throttled down I was told. You can buy the device outright and activate it by the minth as you need it.

So has anyone used this plan? i realize coverage is limited but it should work inFlorida and no one else seems to do this.

Thanks

Have you tried turning on the Personal Hotspot feature of your iPhone? Settings->Cellular data->Setup personal hotspot. It depends on your contract whether there is an extra charge for this featue. Usually it is $20/mo. You should be able to turn it on and off whenever you need. If you have a Verizon Unlimited plan - you have the best. Just use your phone as a hotspot to share it with other devices.

TMO does not have the best coverage. ST uses both ATT & Vz service, depending on which device you purchase or bring. I am days away from trying out ST with a NEXUS 5 which will use the ATT system. It is 45, unlimited but they throttle down after 2.6 until the next month. I wanted to stay with Vz system with ST but Vz doesn't allow 4g on ST, whereas ST using ATT will allow 4g. Plus, there wasn't any good phones, at least that I liked, with V using ST. I just had to have that NExus 5.

I have the Pay-As-You-Go plan and a wireless hotspot. I rarely use my phone so it works well for me. The hotspot, for me, costs $10/month to keep it and then you pay in advance for any usage that you may incur.

And this is assuming that I've actually got the information they gave me correct. ๐Ÿ™‚

I do not know about the pay as you go plans but I looked into one plan at Wall Mart (1 Gig 15bucks)

My primary phone is T-Mobile, for about 100/month I get
Unlimited talk
Unlimited SMS
Unlimited and I do mean Unlimited data
Six and a half Gigs of HIGH SPEED data (I ask them about the meaning of "High Speed" and they basically could not answer) My peak month was 6.6 Gig by the way.

And no Tether charge.

Verizon got slapped by the Feds a few years back for charging that tether fee.. once you buy the data it is yours.. You may wish to check that out... Seems the federal slap down only affected selected plans.. I do not know which ones since I really do not like Verizon for other reasons, Have not liked them since before they came together and formed Verizon. (Verizon is a collection of companies, one of which I have had many dealings with.. NONE nice).

I also have T-Mobile (4g)
I have seen lots of "holes" in rural areas
Reasonable coverage in more developed areas
I really have never hit "throttle" as I only really use it for e-mail and such, nothing big high-bandwidth

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

I have T-mobile wifi and am very satisfied with it.
Coverage in some areas as I travel back roads is spotty but on main roads and in most campgrounds service is excellent.
You can change your plan on the fly month to month from a basic $20.00 plan to plans costing $80.00 or more. I do not stream so I very rarely go over the $30.00. When I am on the road traveling I just use the basic $20.00 plan and if if notified I am being throttled then I go online and increase my GB no harm no foul and very easy to do. You are unthrottled almost immediately. Throttled I still can check emails and do banking
Also you can sometimes buy the hotspot on EBAY OR Amazon cheaper than T-mobile will sell it.

I have a hotspot by ZTE that I got for under $40.00 at Amazon on sale (not currently on sale)

I would go with them if I was shopping for a service

I would check to see if you can get service where you camp with the T mobile, as it doesn't get very good reviews. I have Verizon and usually have coverage when the others camping with me using Sprint and AT&T have zip.

I know nothing about the T-Mobile plan but it sounds pretty good from your description.

Walmart's Straight Talk has a 3G hotspot plan on Verizon towers that is a great deal... 4GB for $40 and it is good for up to 60-days.
