I put a pedestal at my house it has a 20,30 and 50 amp service. While testing I can run both a 13.5 and 15k on the same 30amp circuit. Now you can't run the microwave or have dead batteries. I turn on the 15k 1st and then the 13.5k.

Yes, particularly if you get one of the newer high efficiency models which draw mo more than the older 1300btu models. You will notice the improvement right away. One thing to keep in mind though. Look out for the Dometics. My first one lasted just over three years then died and the second, a Brisk Air 2, was terribly loud and only lasted 6 months before failing while on vacation. Best to check out all of the brands before buying.

Just think of it as a boat except that it is the top that needs to be waterproof.

Check the branch circuit breaker..... It is running on just 20 amps. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Mine does. However, it running is one thing. The upstream electrical source handling the inrush current of the compressor starting is a completely different thing altogether.

Hi,

Yes, but it would be wise to monitor the voltage. If it drops below 109 then I become uncomfortable. If it drops below 108, I reduce loads until it is back over 109.

The same as all of the others- yes, you can.

Roy also hits the nail on the head- a 15k A/C is more likely to overload the breaker with other things running. With my 50amp rig, when I'm a 30amp site- I make sure I leave the water heater off and only run 1 other high electric use appliance at a time (microwave, baby bottle warmer, hair dryer, vacuum, etc.).

You may run into some times when you have too many other high wattage 120VAC items turned on at the same time. This will just trip a breaker so no harm done.

Even with the smaller 13,500 A/C unit I have installed I will sometimes trip my breaker if I turn on the microwave or the roll around high current vacuum at the same time.

I replaced 13.5 unit with a 15K, on 30-amp service. No problem - it just made the interior more comfortable in 116 temps.
