6.7 Diesel Towing MPG

I was just blessed with a 2019 F250 Lariat with the 6.7l diesel. Never owned a diesel before. Planning a summer trip from New Orleans area to Atlanta area. I was curious what kind of gas mileage should I expect towing. I guess I am used to gas engines, where I have to plan my fuel stops carefully with at 35ft trailer.

Truck in signature with 3.77 rear end towing 14K fiver. Average over the last 18K miles (coast-to-coast and gulf to northern border) has been 10.5 MPG. 38 gallon fuel tank means fuel stops about every 350 miles (keeping a little fuel reserve). Out west where things can be several hundred miles apart, I fill up any time diesel is available and the fuel gauge is under 1/2. Previous 12K miles were with a DuraMax... the average was the same!

Bayou Boys! Seeing your user name makes me want to dig out my Eddie Raven music. Then weโ€™d have to move on to Doug and Rusty! :B

But to attempt to answer your question. Most of the diesels get comparable fuel mileage. With our 6.7 Ram (manual trans), towing a 20+K 5th wheel, we get around 9.5+ on an extended trip. Obviously, it is dependent upon your driving practices.... easy, slow acceleration, coasting to stops, keeping you speed @ 65 or a little under, will all help. Driving in traffic, pretty much negates all of the above suggestions! Enjoy your new truck, and your travels! ๐Ÿ™‚

0, because if you put gas in it, you won't be going anywhere.

But, I'd expect 10-12 from a diesel (with diesel in the tank).

9-12. Hard to believe you would regularly get more than 12, unless you are going 55 MPH with no wind.

2012 F350 CC LB FX4 6.7 w/3.55. Between 10 and 11 for most towing of my 35โ€™ high profile 5er over flat to rolling terrain. Less in the mountains or high winds. I do run at the speed limit up to 70 on the highways.

19-20 mph when not towing on the highway at 70-75. 20-21 if I keep it below 70.

16-17 combined city/hwy.

I stand corrected I should have said Fuel economy. My trailer is 7500 GVWR. I was getting 7.5mpg on my 6.2l gas, so anything better than that is great.

Keeping the speed down makes a big difference ! Knock another 5 MPH off of that and I would bet you pick up at least another 1 MPG.

Time to change your vocabulary, you donโ€™t burn gas any more, it is diesel or fuel. Best to work on it early before you fill it with Regular!

Depends on a lot of variables.. terrain, speed, wind, ect...

I tow a fiver that is just under 16k with my โ€œ15โ€ 6.7 and 3:55 rear... I average between 9-11 depending on variables.... I did get 12 once,., but everything was optimal, as i usually have a heavier foot...
