Air Filter for Duo-Therm rooftop AC?

I bought my TT not to long ago and just got back off my first trip with it. I was just checking the air filter on the Domestic Duo-Therm (Model: 57915-541) and found a surprise. It looks like the previous owner had a thin foam air filter that got sucked up onto the evaporation coils some time ago and is clogging up a considerable portion of the coils. I am going to have to clean the coils I know, but I need to find a new air filter for it fast, because I need to use it this weekend and it is hot here in Texas. I can't seem to find a source for a filter for my model and most of what I have seen is just a simple piece of foam. Any recommendations?

One big thing to remember is to clean the filters regularly. They clog up fast and greatly reduce your cooling.

Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, Ace all carry a thin foam windo unit filter. Trim to the size you need.

My AC just has little tabs on the edges of the grill cover that holds the filter in. It's amazing it doesn't get sucked up but, it never has. I always though it looked like it should have had some sort of wires going across it to hold it down but, it's never had any.

Well got the coils clean at last. They were 98% completely clogged. I am not even sure how it even worked. Works much better now. This is my first TT and rooftop AC. There does not appear to be any kind of filter holder. There is just the grill cover and an open hole the leads to the evap coils. I think this is why the last owners foam filter ended up on the coils, there was nothing to hold it in place and keep it from being suck up. I think I will engineer something out of 1/4" hardware cloth. Thanks for the advice.

All good ideas above, but if pressed for time, run it without. You're not going to hurt anything over a weekend, especially with the crud already on the coils. THAT I would address above all else.

Lowes, Home Depot, et al have AC filters (foam sheets) that can be cut to fit. My filter is held in place by strips of the hook side of Velcro strips and I overlap the cover a bit so the foam is wedged between the return cover and the housing just to make sure it doesn't do what yours did.

Bag of thin foam filter material at most any hardware store.....I get mine at ACE.

Then I cut several to fit filter frame. Pull dirty one out..slap clean one in then wash dirty one with hot soapy water. When it stretches out too much.....toss and cut a new one.
