Another Bonehead Manouever!!

Ahhh gee, sometimes I wonder about me.......:S :h

So I get in my truck this morning to head to work. Away I go, pull out into traffic, drive a few blocks and see something flapping in my passenger side mirror.

What the???? I looks like.... a 40 foot extension cord dragging down the road behind my truck.

Yup! drove away without unplugging my block heater!

What a dummy. I stopped at a red light, quickly got out, opened my hood, pulled the cord out and gathered it up and threw it in beside me and drove away.

Sigh!! Still shaking my head!

I examined the cord this evening. Aside from a little road rash on the plug, the thing was perfectly intact!! I can't believe I never ran over it with my dually wheels. 40 feet man! And I didn't run it over.

What is my next performance going to hold?

You have made my day uh or hr or min but I did the same thing but in my super c.
Getting ready to take it to the dealer for warranty work I jumped in upped all jacks after my pre-flight checks Drove out my 300 ft gravel driveway -- no neighbors-- no cars. Turned rt on country road for 2&1/2 mile seeing no cars and no one out and about. Turned left on main state road still no one out and about and no cars in either direction.

On a slight right hand curve I saw the large ($300) RAT TAIL cord and the, I think, Large Progressive ($400) elec thingy trailing alone.
Still no cars from either directions and no one out and about. I then turned into a 1/2 moon shaped turn around and rolled up my ruined cord and ruined elec. thingy. NO ONE SAW ME so what cord and what thingy are we talking about? LOL.

I bought the new cord at the dealer and after I arrived back home I contacted the Manf of the elec thingy to order another. I really don't remember but I think it was PROGRESSIVE out of Florida.

Told them what happened and that I needed to order another. They said they would replaced my elec protector AT NO CHARGE. They did just that. Now that is customer service with a crown on top.

I have not confessed up to this to anyone so let's keep it a secret and not tell any one. LOL:

Exactly my thoughts I see no reason to stay where either me or my vehicle needs to be plugged in at night! :B

Although with the crazy weather recently might have to start hanging out in Ensenada for the winter! ๐Ÿ˜ž

He DOESN'T live there, he is only there temporarily for work. That is part of the problem as where he actually lives, a block heater is not needed nor used. So he is not used to using one.

Yeah bingo there!!

It has been decades since I have needed a block heater!!

So I just don't think about it. I have remote start on my truck, so from the comfort of a toasty warm bed, I can start the truck to warm it up!

So used to just getting in and going that I never think about unplugging the thing. Heck, half the time I don't think about plugging it in either....

But the weather here has changed now and we are well above freezing.

All is well!

I haven't done that, but as I age, I've found that I have to sing "Happy Birthday" to myself to remember my own name sometimes. So for the RV, I bought a Brother P-Touch label maker. It prints whatever you type on the keyboard onto adhesive-backed 1/2" white tape. Then I just peel off the backing. I stuck each thing I had to check before driving away, on a spring loaded clothes pin and keep them in the console. As I hook up, I attach the proper clothes pin to the sun visor. When I unhook, I put the clothes pin back in the console. If there's still a clothes pin on the visor when I'm ready to go, then I'm not ready to go. At most, it takes a couple of extra minutes, and I'm not dragging something behind me (other than the toad). Clothes pin for that, too.

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

1.Pulled away with TT once with it still plugged in. At least I saw it before I left the driveway and didn't get all the way to destination with no cord.
2. Unhooked TT and drove to friends house about a mile away. On the return trip- SCORE I found a set of leveling bars in the road and coincidentally were the same brand and model as mine. Imagine that some bonehead forgot to remove them from his hitch. Good thing I found them because mine were missing when I got home.

Golly, take it easy. We don't want you to get hurt. What would we do for entertainment.;) Make yourself a shopping list and add some ice melt, and sand , to the list. There are more icy days coming yet this year.
