Another CW BAD!

Had to get something out of our rig that has been waiting in line for a month to get fixed. Employee walked us out and opened the door. What you don't lock them? Nope he said. Over two hundred and fifty customer rigs in the lot waiting for service and none locked! Must have signed several pages of CW not responsible documents when we checked in. Hell of a way to run a business.

And you left it there? :?

You CAN make them give you an appointment date. Your specific "time and date" and you bring your RV in for your given service time. The RV stays locked and secured at YOUR house where it WILL be covered by insurance.

If you succumb to the "leave it here we will get to it" you've been had. There are 10's of RV's that are being repaired before yours because you have given them an open end.. 'ok, fix it when ever'.

IMHO, they have convinced RV'ers that that is how the RV service world operates. And it simply is not true unless you 'choose' to be part of it.

ALL Service departments all have an appointment book. They have to plan their service. I would never leave an RV at a dealership without having an appointment date and time written in that service dept appointment book.

We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned,
so as to have the life that is waiting for us.

The place I usually go to, I walk in and get an appointment usually in a week. When I take it in, they start on it right away and if it needs parts, they roll it out and lock it.
Another place I take it, you make an appointment, now 6-8 weeks out and drop it and leave and then they get to it when they can. Needless to say, I don't take it there except to get my propane tank. They told me it would be the middle of the month for me to get to get an estimate on replacing the towbar that came off the toad the other day. So far almost $3K to the front end where it pulled loose and torqued to one side. Pushed the bumper up into the front fenders and shoved them back so that you can hear the doors scrape when they open. Haven't been able to get it up into the air to see what the frame looks like where the base plates fastened on.

Recently we were walking the lot at CW-Mesa, AZ and there must have been 100 rv's waiting for service. Ridiculous. Obviously too many dealers don't want to pay for a service department that can keep up with the traffic. Especially since there is no quality control at the factory, which expects the dealer to make up for it.

That's just crazy. Why would any place have that big of a line for service? That could be a year or so wait. Not my rv, no way!

In my state they are still responsible, particularly if it is not locked.

Why would you go to a service facility with that type of a wait? When I have service I make an appointment, have a completion date noted on the invoice, if parts are needed I take the MH home and return when they are ready to work. The local CW had a theft problem from the lot. They contacted a friends security company, but the bid was too high. They rather deal with the losses than prevent the losses.

After my less than stellar experience at CW I found another Starcraft factory authorized store.

That's our deal - after the parts have arrived my rig shows up at the crack of dawn on a specific day. It's worked on and out of the shop in a few hours. I know where we'll be buying when it comes time to upgade to a new TT

I don't see the point of my rig setting around collecting dust with me at home paying off the loan.

I have never understood the waiting in line game played by RV dealers. How counter productive and customer unfriendly. In my mind unnecessary and should be stopped. Bring unit in, find out needs, give customer unit back, order parts and when parts arrive schedule installation.
But to wait a month at the dealer heck no.

Two hundred and fifty units waiting to be serviced? Guess no one going RVing soon.

Let's hope, at least, they were all behind a fenced in area with a locked gate.

Modern Trailer in Anderson, Indiana has a completely fenced in property with high fences and locking gates. I found out a couple days ago, they have a dog that roams freely when the gates are locked! Sweet! His cage is behind the building by the propane tank refill. When getting propane refilled, he was barking his head off in his pen! Either wanted to play with me, or have me for lunch! I do know they lock the new units. I never bothered to ask if they lock the customer's units!

I like the idea of the dog!
