antifreeze in rv toilet

Being a newbie at winterization I have to ask:
After charging the water lines with pink antifreeze and operating the flush valve for it to flow into the supply piping some will sit in the bowl on top of the sliding flush door of the toilet, will this ruin the seal?

Comments, suggestions.

Way overkill - Winnebago winterization manual says a cup in toilet and each trap

May not be an overkill for them....

We winterized ours by pumping antifreeze through the lines. Took about a gallon. Due to the way the hose sat in the bottles, we used only about half of each bottle. So we had two half bottles left. Poured them down the tank. The stuff is less than $3 gallon. Matter of fact I bought 4 gallons of it for $2.58 at Walmart. Have a couple more gallons to use in case we decided to dewinterize in the middle of the winter and need to rewinterize.

I usually keep mine closed, it looks better. For a while I left it open because I thought I might have a leaking seal and it's easier to check if it's open.

Deleted double post.

Closed. Only because it will slow down the evaporation of the anti-freeze even though it is not air tight.

Definitely leave some antifreeze in the bowl, I leave about an inch. I also put some in the black tank after rinsing it as well as I can. Probably between 2 cups and a quart.

It will not ruin the seal. You could possibly ruin the seal by NOT pouring antifreeze on top of the valve.

It's part of my winterizing procedure.

You need it there to keep the seal from drying out. It also keeps toilet odors from coming up. The fluid sitting on that seal acts as the P trap in the sink's drain. Some folks will use olive oil, but the RV antifreeze works just fine.

You should always have either antifreeze or water in toilet bowl to keep seal from drying out.

I don't worry about it but if it is a concern rinse with a cup of fresh water after the pump is turned off.
