Are the splash, mud shields effective?

Just wondering how effective they are and if I should put one on the TV to protect the 5R. I do notice that not everyone uses them, but traveling from Wisconsin to Florida in the winter usually means messy roads.

For those who have them, are they worth it?

If you are driving a class A, some are, Some are not and some make it worse.

Some folks have those big brush things that sweep up rocks and toss em up onto the towed.

Some have what used to be called an "Underskirt" (They changed the name) this is a big cloth thing that goes UNDER your tow bar, and it works great.

Some have plastic shields, may or may not work

But lots of folks believe in 'em.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

I was not familiar with Rock Tamers but after doing some reading and also reading about Roadwing mud flaps I became interested in buying some.
Prices seem to be similar but does anyone have recommendations to one brand over the other?

I used a RoadWing mud flap for our trip to Alaska this past summer, and will sell it as I don't need it now. Worked fine for what we needed it for. my email is woodworker40@zoominternet.net

On my previous 5r I had several chips and dings on the front compartment. On the current 5r which has full body paint I didn't want that to happen so I started using Rock Tamers and after several hundred miles I have no dings or chips in the paint.

How's this for mud shield & effectiveness. It is bubble wrap taped to the trailer. Check the size & height above ground, lower with trailer, of the flaps.

This mess created in less than 30 miles of driving on the gravel road to the Teklanika CG in Denali NP. Yep, rainy day.

Some days you are just gonna get dirty no matter what you do.

Sorry for your mess, but I'm thinking that's a small price to pay for the joy of being in Alaska.

Installed on our SRW truck a set of Roadwing flaps that are mounted via receiver hitch......easy on/off

Sure does keep the front/compartment storage door area clean

If a dually would need to cover outside wheel also.
Is it time for your medication or mine?

Just put the Rock Tamers on my TV. The TV is a dually and it does a great job at protecting the trailer. I really like the idea that when I get to my spot for the winter, I can easily remove the mud flaps takes about 2 minutes.

They made a big difference on our rig. Rubber guard across the back and guards on the outside fenders.
If you have a dually make sure you put them out on the fenders. Otherwise the outside dually tire wile throw about a foot way path of dirt.
