Charge Line

I have a 2007 Chevy Silverado. Everything on my trailer plug works just fine except the "Charge Line". It is factory wired and worked last year. Does anyone know if theres a fuse anywhere on the truck that would kill the charge line if the fuse was blown?

If it worked last year, then it has to be a relay or fuse. On Fords, they put these items in the glove compartment, and the new owner gets to install them. Check your owners manual and see what fuse and/or relay powers that line. I had to replace a relay on mine.

Check your ownerrs manual. This might be it or if you have the NBS 2007.5, search for 2008 Silverado HD owners manual. Stud 1/location 70?

Yes, 40A. That's what GM has spec'd since 1999.

In the 99-06 trucks, you needed to install a fuse in the "Stud #1" position in the fuse panel under the hood.

Apparently in 2007-later trucks you also need to connect the line to Stud #1 in addition to adding the fuse.

my 2012 Ford F 250 has a 25 amp fuse for the trailer battery. aka charge line.

I know because I purchased the truck 2 months ago.. and was one of the first things I checked after connecting trailer to truck.

Lights, Brakes, Battery voltage.

40 amp? Wow! Probably won't hurt anything. I'm a Ford guy. Never ever measured more than 10 amps on my charge line. I would measure your charge current. Maybe allow more and fuse it. If it worked before probably not a dummy fuse.

First off, are you sure it worked fine last year?? Not being factious, but GM factory wired does NOT mean what you think. Their factory wired charge line means they ran the wire from the plug forward to the engine compartment, BUT did not connect it at the fuse box. This has been standard practice on the GM trucks for years. The line is setting under the fuse box in the engine compartment, on the drivers side. You must fish it out and hook it up, if you want to use the charge line. There will be a dummy fuse in the slot for the line and you will have to buy the correct 40A fuse to install, once the line is hooked.

My truck has the NHT package which is the HD Max towing package, but the charge line was not hooked up. The same was true with my 2005 GMC truck.

should be in the Main fuse box. look in owners manual

or its can be printed in the underside of fuse box top.

Under the hood - driver's side fuse box (toward the front near the fender...Probably a "dummy" in there now.

I think you need a 40a fuse. It goes in the stud labeled B+ ...Probably a "dummy" in there now.
