The real truth is that the person who drives up in the 1.6 million dollar Prevost-conversion Coach,..........he and I don't have much in common, not much to talk about. Therefore, I think he's a snob,.....:B:B:B

There are always going to be those who think their Black Water Tank doesn't stink. That's life. Call your RV whatever you want to call it. After all you bought it.

All kidding aside, my DW and I were at a campground in NC 2 years ago. We got up early on our second day there to discover a big black prevost in the slot next to ours. I thought this isn't going to be much fun at all. That thing is a MONSTER.

Well, after breakfast we went outside and a really nice young man was outside putting out chairs. I said "Good Morning" and he immediatley walked over and started to tell me how nice my 10 year old m/h looked and how nice I kept it.
It started to dawn on me that I knew this guy but I wasn;t going to go there. We talked for nearly 30 minutes and then the bell rang in my head. I knew who this guy was.

Long story short, the guy in the prevost played professional sports. He was on a long vacation with his wife and his 2 kids. My DW and I never let on to him that we knew who he was. They stayed next to us for 3 days. During that time we all talked and sat around each other's RV's drinking beer and playing with the kids and the dog.

So, not all million dollar RV owner's are snobs, arrogant or "Pretentious". Some are actually really great folks that happen to enjoy the finer things in life and can afford it. The ones that are "Pretentious" are the ones that worry about how they are going to make the next payment on their "Highway Beast".

I use the term with clients to define between the coach and the chassis of any motorhome including Class A, B and C,s. I've never heard of that term being considered "pretentious". What would make it so.

'Some' of the people who drive them. Notice I said 'some', not all. I have met a few, but fortunately they are in the minority. We sold our class A. Don't know if we will buy an RV, trailer, camper or 'coach'. No matter what, we plan to enjoy and have lots of fun. Wishing everyone the best.

We've called each of our RVs "the camper".

My aunt and uncle visited us once with their 31' Airstream. I called it a camper and they were visibly distressed and said it was a "coach".

I believe you are remembering the name plate for Fisher Body, GM's body division.

GMC had GM Truck and Coach Division which made chassis for GMC. Cadillac had their own chassis shop. Right next door was the Miller-Meteor Corp. They stamped panels for Cadillac and also produced panels for hearses and ambulances assembled under their name, using the Cadillac commercial chassis.

And it appears to be working! These fora/forums have turned into white bread pablum and yeah, stirring the pot doesn't hurt.

I STILL maintain that calling an RV a "coach" is effete.

This is the same OP who just had a thread closed about how an owner of a Prevost was supposedly displaying "Arrogance Personified" when they were talking to their neighbor. Now people who call their RV a "coach" are being snobs. Perhaps the OP just has a problem with people who have had more financial success then they had. Isn't jealousy one of the seven deadly sins?

It would appear that way. But, as he has even stated, he just likes to start controversy. And it seems that he can get the best bang for the buck by introducing a topic related to class envy.

The term COACH has been around for well over 100 years. How about the STAGECOACH?

Sometimes we call our's a camper, RV, M/H or Money Pit. We also refer to it as a coach once in a while. No harm No foul.

I would take issue with one poster who said something along the lines of if it's $400,000.00 it's a coach. Now that's "PRENTENTIOUS" by definition.

Personaly, I con't care what someone borrows from the bank to buy their $500,000.00 PLUS Motor Coach. They have to make the payments not me. For me my 2002 Motorized Trailer has one big advantage. I have the title to it...
What about the many who pay CASH for their million dollar rig? Are they "PRETENTIOUS" by definition?

HECK NO!!!!. They are the smart ones. I stated "Borrows from the Bank". The vast majority of people who buy $300,000.00 RV's finance them. Like a mortgage on a car so to speak. Depreciates in front of your eyes but the payments remain the same. By the time that rolling palace is paid off it's worth almost ZERO.

Cash is King.
