Dump Rage

Do You have dump rage?

You know the scenario weekend warrior gotta dump at the end of the weekend and the line is long.

I'm finding myself more and more irritated at the free dump stations. I only boondock and these stations are in bigger towns that are on my way home so I have no other choice. Closest dump station to me is an hour from my house.

I've been picking up a few handy tips as well to make it as fast as possible. However there is always these things that blow my mind when I pull up.

Usually I don't get too wound up but this one really got me, but after I really thought about it, it might actually make the process even faster.

So I come to the dump guy is unloading in front of me. I get my door up and my hose out and actually walk up and lay my hose down before my turn.

Guys are nice and then I see him and his friend pulling in a water hose i think it was a drinking hose no less attached to the nasty dump hose spigot hose. He proceeds to run it through the window and another 10 minutes goes by. I was next inline so I was patient as you have to be watching him unhook the water line with it turned on etc. Always good for a laugh.

Now there is a great line behind me at least 5 campers deep. This guy rolls up in a class A on the opposite side of the dump. I can see him putting on gloves and getting out when the first guy finishes his weird flushing procedure. The first guy in front of me was kind enough to actually move forward to put his gear away.(nice!)

So watching this other guy I KNEW what he was up too and I raced to get in position and get dumping. He's opened his bay door and pulls out his hose, I'm already hooked up an dumping at this point.

He says the worst part about camping is? I cut him off and said you know the line is way back there right. He says yeah but it'll just take a second. He knew I wasn't happy about what he was doing and I finished quickly and got outta there.

I know if i was next in line with this cutter I would have probably lost it on him.

I was trying to let him know its not right what you're doing with the long line of people behind me.

After I reflected awhile I kinda thought about something. It would only work in this type of dump. An island with enough room on both sides for the one dump. If you have 2 campers trying to dump. there is always the guy taking his time hooking up flushers putting gloves on and the other guy can be dumping so on an so forth. basically cutting the time down to only dumping and moving through the lineup faster. Of course it would only work if one is dumping an the other is setting up or tearing down.

But i see some of the most ridiculous things at these places I get anxiety dumping on a Sunday. Maybe the answer is time of day and time of week to avoid the dreaded dump station.

I've tried to develop a system for these types of places. They can really add a significant amount of time waiting on these clowns that take their time 3 deep can be an hour if everyone is flushing and doing god knows what else.

Be ready. Doors up hoses placed near ahead of time. dump. add some water down the sewer, pull away then collect your things so the next guy can move in. I try to be like pit crew at a indy 500 race. My record is 4 minutes from move in to move away.

Sorry for the rant but do you get DUMP RAGE?

But I do remember once, many many years ago, pulling into a busy gas station to tank up and finding myself behind a guy who tanked up, went inside, and evidently got a hot dog, took a dump, and chatted up the pretty young thing at the register until she finally kicked him out. By then, having waited about 15 minutes behind him at the pump (AFTER he'd filled up), I had gone around him, backed up within inches of his bumper, and started pumping, when he finally staggered out and was highly offended that I had him blocked in. I remember telling him I'd waited on him for 15 minutes, now it was his turn to wait on me, and I'd be done as soon as the tank fills and I go in to pay for it. No, he wasn't happy about it.

LOVE IT;)

I dont have too much trouble at the gas pumps but I know exactly what you're talking about. I think once i was at costco waiting to roll to the front pump guy leaves I move forward and some clown is backing up to get into the pump I put the bumper an inch away he looked alittle distressed.

Another time I witnessed a lady at the costco in the rear pump finish and no car was behind her so she stomped on the gas right when an attendant was walking past.

Boy was he mad at her she didn't even stop just did a quick backup and out the way she came in. fortunately he jumped and got a good fist bump into her rear quarter panel before he got squashed.

I have heard of some people, with non nosy neighbors and high fences putting in their own septic tank dump stations at home right next to where they park their RVs.

These people have gone as far as to look on the internet for directions how to build it with 2 55gal plastic drums and a few other bits.

He must have the greenest lawn on the block! If I could figure out a way to convert my black tank into a milorganite factory I would never have to buy milo again for the yard. That stuff is magical for lawns.

"Scott G" Awesome. I have a port on my class C that holds a tiny hose pretty much worthless.
I'd love to build one like yours. add a linear actuator and those new electric blade valves and I might not even have to get out of the rv I could just get it done on the highway let er rip on the tailgater. haha

And if it hasn't happened to you yet, it probably will at some point. The dreaded dump station connection accident!!!!!!!!! Happened to us this weekend. Only one dump station long line trying to dump. I felt I had to at least try to clean up before the next camper. I got the feeling that some would have just as soon we drove off and left it. Yep, not a pretty picture and not a lot of fun!

NOT YET. I love that show RV. Some of my favorite times are the rare event that I do stay at an RV park and they put me right where I get a awesome view of the dump station. gosh a few cold ones and the entertainment NEVER ends.

But it certainly could happen to any of us (and certainly not funny if that person is you). the one I witnessed was on a cruise america vessel didn't even try to put the hose on just hopped out and started pulling valves.

I have seen the toilet paper caper and always wondered why is there Blank everywhere?

kinda gross its one thing when you're touching things mainly its just water but doing the dance on someone elses mess makes me wanna throw my shoes away.

I usually go bare handed and wash and sanitize immediately away from the dump station but im starting to realize I need to get a box of gloves on would make it faster and less gross.

No other choice? Can you fix your home system to dump there? Is there a commercial dump at a R V park? Will the city let you dump at the treatment plant? There is always a choice.

Nope I live way out in the country. But since you brought up the home thing If I did buy a macerator pump I do have a septic tank within 20 feet of the RV. Do Macerators push the waste out? like through a 50 foot garden hose?

Yeah 2 holes would be awesome with an island dump station then it would be no problem and the line would move super fast.

My luck is I roll on by and the next place has an even longer line. I've kinda learned my lesson on leaving one for the next sometimes it works usually it makes it worse.

First,we almost never camp on weekends anymore. And we don't wait to leave until the last minute so we rarely have to wait. Plus we also have a sewer hookup at home and we often dump there if we aren't that far away. But there are some rude people who don't care that others are waiting and they screw around. It is agravating.

I was dumping one time when all of the sudden, I smelled that stink of raw sewage - very close by.
I looked under the next rig just in time to see the guy had goofed up something and his tank was emptying onto his bare hands and all over the ground.

I quickly finished up dumping and got the hell out of there.

On a separate note, I have a place to dump grey (but not black - dumps to storm) at home. The black tank is so big that I can easily go a couple of trips without dumping it so I often just bring the grey home to dump.

I have a sewer connection at home, so I've used such a dump station only a couple times in the decade we've owned an RV. But I quite understand your pique. I've encountered plenty of self-absorbed inconsiderate entitled boobs many times in other lines. And there have been a few times when it was all I could do to not unload on one of them.

But I do remember once, many many years ago, pulling into a busy gas station to tank up and finding myself behind a guy who tanked up, went inside, and evidently got a hot dog, took a dump, and chatted up the pretty young thing at the register until she finally kicked him out. I've made a bit of a science out of efficient and fast dumping myself.
My sewer hose is stored in a fence post cover I installed at the sewer connection. It actually snaps in place.

Flip the lever and it ejects the hose with a 90 already on it.
(first hose keeps second hose secure in forward tube).

When it comes to dumping, I don't "rinse" with fresh water. If dumping 30~60 gallons of soapy grey water doesn't flush it good enough, nothing will.

I've also set up a way to flush the black without taking too much time (& if no one is behind me).
I have installed a third valve where the sewer hose attaches.

So I can dump the black, close this valve and let the grey and black equalize which forces 20~40 gallons of grey backwards into the black tank. This only takes takes 30 seconds or so.
Then I dump the black again (now with grey water in it) and I always get a lot more TP and "stuff" out.
Finally, I dump the last 20~30 gallons of grey which does a final "flush" of the sewer hose. Since the hose snaps into place, I don't even have to install a cover over it

We also have a hose-powered black tank flusher but I only use that at campsites.
