Has anyone used the electric sway control that uses the trailer brakes when it detects sway? Don't remember the manufacturer just wondering if anyone out there is using it and how it works. Thanks

That system and the system that comes on new trucks is not for ongoing sway control. It's for correcting a catastrophic event so you dont crash.
The truck and trailer should be set up so that never happens.

"another Band-Aid" and " that thing is going to be applying the trailer brakes all the time to mask"

You guys should write GM and tell them how dumb and unsafe their idea is. But I do agree that proper loading is important.

Think about it for a minute... If you have a bad sway problem, that thing is going to be applying the trailer brakes all the time to mask the problem while you happily roll down the road, blissfully ignorant of the potential ticking time bomb behind you.

What happens when the brakes overheat?

This product is intended to stop an unforeseen, random, rare sway event, but people will use it to stop sway instead of fixing it the right way.

Putting 10-ply tires on half ton trucks since aught-four.

another band-aid...I'd just go with properly setup (OEMweight ratings, component classes, where those weights are, tongue weight of actual trailer weight, WD Hitch system dialed in correctly, etc, etc) than this...and...personally see it just another thing to potentially fail at the absolute worst time when Mr Murphy is crossing our path...

So far mine has worked great, and coming back from Bishop it was blowing up a storm on one trip. Others were moving around...I was not. So IMO GM's works but remember I'm only a 22 foot box...26 overall.
