How to deal with neighbor noise in quiet hours?

I know we're living in close quarters so some noise is always expected. This fairly nice RV park has a lot of motorcycles so there's a lot of noise but for the most part, it's noisy during the day and quiet during official quiet times 10pm-7am.

Our next door neighbours live in their trailer year-round but I wouldn't call them full-timers.

She leaves at 5:45am every weekday to walk 3 miles before her shift starts. Her truck is a hard to start, squealing fanbelt, no exhaust beater. She parks it 10 feet from our bed. She wakes me every morning - it usually takes me an hour or more to get back to sleep. Sometimes not at all.

This is a so-called "premium" site and we don't want to move, but we may have to. Before we do that I'm wondering if anyone can think of any (legal) things to do to stop this inconsiderate behavior? We asked her to park at the other end of her trailer and that helped a lot for a couple of weeks but she's decided she doesn't want to do that anymore (why, I dunno). After two and a half months we've finally complained to the office but I have little hope that they can / will do anything.

We've been doing the RV thing for quite a few years and I've never come across this kind of issue. I understand the "suck it up", "stop whining" and "move" options. Any other suggestions?

Fix the truck for her?????????
So you know the OP is a truck mechanic with an unlimited supply of free parts?
How many hundreds of his own money should he spend?

Yea. It's called, 'helping a neighbor'. Ever have a neighbor come over and lend you a hand? Ever offer to lend a hand to a neighbor?

What's happened to America when we can't even be neighborly to a neighbor? Maybe you are one of those who are only nice to you first? Break the cycle and quit responding to a bad situation by making it worse.

As for me? My peace and quiet for a $50 muffler and some belt dressing is plenty worth the time and money. If I haven't the skils, then another $100 for the labor and I get to sleep in. Seeing as the OP *****ed and aired the dirty laundry to the world, I would think that would be chump change for the tranquiity it gave back.

How much money you think you spend in taxes that goes to the unworthy who abuse your tax gift? Now think about putting some money where it would do you your own best good; your peace and quiet at 5:30am.

You could buy her new muffler ,LOL
Squeeling belt is from being too lose,,tell her to tighten it,,
Hard starting is from carb choke needing adjustment..or some vacuum lines being cracked.lose or missing..
Get some mechanic to look at it..
Or else just hit the road,,

OMG! That is SO profound! Did you coin that yourself or is it a quote from someone else.
Oh.. thanks. I pretty much came to that conclusion myself after being in the OP's situation many times.

The loud cars early in the morning, along with the slamming doors, the yelling, the dogs, the kids.. yuck.

I would move to another site, or go to another park, or get ear plugs.

Really not much more you can do if the park manager doesn't take care of it. They should recommend she gets her truck fixed...at her expense or park it away from other guests.

Simple solution.
She gets up to take her three mile walk.

Tell her to park her old bomb three miles away.
Kills two birds with one stone.
She gets her three mile walk in and you don't have to hear her truck.

Maybe it's time to buy house in the country?

After living in the country (most of my life), I don't think I could ever live full time in a campground or trailer park with neighbors 10 feet from my door! No thank-you! I know you already said it, but the answer is ... "move!"

I'm a snowbird here for 4 months. I've stayed in this park 3 times previously, in fact twice on the site next door where the beater now sits. There used to be a 50s trailer on the site I'm now on that looked to be about 100 years old. The park ripped it out, put in a full pad with landscaping - hence premium. I know I know, not much premium.

There is a very low percentage of 'permanents' here <5%. Unfortunately there is one right next door.

There is a husband but he spends the whole day in the trailer door and windows closed - doing what, I daren't imagine. HIS Harley is louder than MY Harley or DW's.

Are you a Snowbird there for just the winter? Full-time where you can leave any time you desire? OR living in your RV permanently?

First rule of thumb for me snowbirding and/or fulltiming BEFORE I pay for my site is to ask the CG owner: "how many residents in your park?"

I do not stay where they allow residents trailers in the CG period. I have tried it and it never works out to be a peaceful RV'ing experience.

May not be politically correct but a true observation is residents in a CG are usually lower income people that brings about junk cars running and junk cars sitting and add a little booze, shooting and fighting to that come payday.

How did the CG come about telling you that your site was a 'premium' site?

If you are a snowbird I would ask for my money back, all of it. And move to another CG rather than sit there and have an unhappy RV'ing experience. And make sure you ask if there are residents allowed at the next CG you choose. :W

Yup. Sounds/looks like your one choice is to move on. I would tell management the reason your leaving. They may(or may not) want to deal with the problem.

Buy a Harley, modify the pipes ... park it next to her door. Start the Harley a half hour before she gets up. Let it idle at 'up-rev' while you drink that coffee you just made.
