We are wondering just how you remove the remaining water from the automatic ice maker in the RV's refrigerator when your RV has returned to your home base for a rest ?

We checked the book & nothing was said about this & after that water sits for awhile it would probably mold ?

Thanks ahead for any & all suggestions !

Thanks !!

I have a 2014 Wildwood Lodge destination trailer. It has an 18 1/2 cu. ft. house type refer with ice maker. I live in Indiana and will be winterizing mid-October. I have to get all water out of the line supplying water to the ice maker. I normally blow out all of the water lines with compressed air and the use the water pump to run antifreeze through the water lines. This is what I did on my previous trailers. This year I'll do the same thing except I'll close the shutoff valve in the line that goes to icemaker AFTER I blow out that line. Does anyone see a problem with using compressed air to blow out the icemaker water line???

Thanks to all for the great suggestions.
We will now not have a problem of leaving water in our ice maker.

I found out that using compressed air is messy............

When we had our Norcold 4 door with an ice maker, we had a routine when we got home. My wife would take out all the laundry, but leave the kitchen dish towel and hand towel. I would empty the refer and then dump the ice. I would throw one towel in the upper left side of the freezer and the other in the other side. The next day I would use the two towels to dry our the freezer compartment and then take one towel, over the ends of my fingers, and reach into the ice maker trough and absorb the water. Never any issues.

If you turn off the ice maker, the last batch of ice won't eject. The ice maker needs power to heat the ice tray slightly which allows the ice to seperate from it. Turn of the water supply or use a sponge.

If you turn off the ice maker then the water valve won't open when it dumps the existing batch of ice - then the only water that will be in the tray is condensation.

It's always a good idea to dump the first batch or two of ice anyway to eliminate anything that might have been in the lines.

You should also drain the ice maker line. Turn off water supply, disconnect the line going to the ive maker, and then let it run to freeze and pop out the ice cubes. Dump ice cube tub.
If you don't drain the line, stale water will be in the first one or two batches of ice cubes.

it is very little water, a sponge should do it quickly!

Shop-vac? Sponge or rag then prop the door open so the rest will have a way to evaporate. Just noticed you are in Sunny Florida. Leave the freezer door open and that water should evaporate in a day or two.
