I was thinking last night

When I got the notion, To pack my bags, and head out for the ocean. ..Myrtle Beach Days, We'll have some fun in the waves. I don't care what the West Coast says. I love those Myrtle Beach Days.

I wanna Sit there in the sand, and watch those Golden Tans go walking by.

Yes, I'm goin. And on a recent thread there was some question why so many folks like Myrtle Beach so much. Truth is. Even though it has changed a lot, and not so much for the better. It reminds many of us what a trip to the beach is all about. Walking on the beach, Shaggin, on the beach, and in days gone by. The Pavillion, and every little dance joint behind every pier at Windy Hill, Ocean Drive, and Cherry Grove. The Beach Music that was born on the Carolina Coast, and is unique to the area. Chasing girls, and having summertime romances. And Yes, There really was an ....."Under the Boardwalk, out of the sun, under the board walk, we'll be havin some fun, Under the Boardwalk, BoardWalk." And that is what we remember when we stand on the beach and hear "60 Minute Man" and "Summer time is Callin Me". It's where most of us went for our Graduation celebration. It's almost like home.

So If you are wondering why. Google "Myrtle Beach Days", and click on the first video. It answers a lot of why.

O.K., that's it- I must have one. Dozen.

Could the next person who goes to Britt's please pick up and drop 'em off at my house in Hadlock, Washington? :B

After all this talk and still no donuts near me I googled Britts... It's a little store front in Carolina Beach, same building since starting up... They make 1 type of donut only... Pretty much a hot KK... The recipe is not know by anybody but the owners.. I told DW at dinner tonight we were making a road trip while in Myrtle Beach this August.. She called me crazy,,,,!!! Joe

Eat a Britt, and you will spit out Dunkin, and KK

Yankee here. What's a Britt? I don't eat donuts as a general rule (not good for the waistline or diabetes) but do splurge on occasion. Unfortunately, too much sugar makes me sick. I think KK donuts are pretty disgusting and DD's have gone downhill. So, enlighten me and tell me what I'm missing!

Well Terry , we are about a month behind you! We try and hit there for at least one week every year.. I grew up too far away to be part of what you are reminiscing about.but can relate !!! Enjoy your trip and be safe.....will you make time to go to Britts ? ,...Joe

Maybe. Britts is at Carolina Beach. About 90 minutes away. Still, Not too far for a Britt.

Lol..we thought about it the other day, but when we saw the sign that said 60 miles to Wilmington, we decided Krispy Kreme would be ok.

I'm a second generation Californian and I have to say(other than junk litter beaches with) there are no bad beaches on either coast. We love the beach and the photo in my signature was taken at one by a young photographer on her first trip out here. The DW and I have visited beaches on every continent except Africa and they all generate the memories you talk about, just localized. Keep bragging about MB, we can't wait to get some memories from there.

Even before we married, young 20s and not a care in the world, we would run a jailbreak out of VA most every summer Friday night and head to MB. NMB wasn't built up yet, and sometimes rooms were scarce, but we didn't care, we were at the beach. Fond memories. OC just can't compare.

Only problem with Carolina, They don't have an oceanfront CG. Only a Primitive State park, and one private CG,. Both, on the watereway.

90 minutes....... Think about it...... Dunkin Donuts.. Kryspy kream... Britts. ????? Remember you can see Mountains , beach , and cities all in one day in NC and still have time for a Britt :-).... With a coffee....

Yeah you can. We'll prolly ride up. It's an easy ride from MB to Carolina Beach, and we could even ride the ferry. Buy a few dozen Britts, and float back to Pirateland on a super tasty, sugar high.

within 90 minutes We've got the Dunkin, mountains, beach and cities too. Krispy Kreme couldn't compete against Dunkin-they tried-too sweet for most yanks taste. Now I will say that if our beaches had warmer water, they'd be better than MB ;). Love MB, though. Time for a road trip! Dagnabit, no camper!

Eat a Britt, and you will spit out Dunkin, and KK. There is only ONE Britt. And the recipe is locked away. Not even the kids that make them, know what goes into them.

Britts is not far from us although it has been a while since I have been there. The local TV station has a little news item on them each year when they open up for the season. Not so good for you but good eating!!
