Thought I'd start a new topic for Gate Guards to use for comments. Like the moderator suggested-keep technical stuff, recipes, mechanical, etc. where they belong. Lets hear from everyone sucking down that caliche dust.

We have two rigs and a "facility." The gate guard company we're working for is GGS. Yes, we get paid more by virtue of the 2 drilling rigs. We average ~200 vehicles in a 24-hour period.

what oil company are you working for?

We have also been told that a company is underbidding GGS and paying $100.00 a day and provides a FEMA trailer. Do you know anything about this?

Let's see-hopefully they provide necessities?? It'd be a b*tch to have to drag along balnkets, pillows, towels, pots, pans, cutlery, etc. everywhere I went.

We're off of 80, too. Take 119 (towards Yorktown) to CR 360-we-re at the end of the road.

Not recording was our solution to not getting paid for extra traffic. We had a pipeline, surveyors, our rig and a water rig. No pay for extra traffic?? FINE. We only tracked our rig and support personnel.

Thanks for the information on EOG.
Our gate was brutal, but no extra pay.
If i am going to work that hard i want more money.
Guess they have changed their game plan. I also talked with another couple who had the same experience with one of EOG's gate.
At the time we were on their gate the company man was being sent to the office, and out of the field.

It was the company man that we could not please. He was always complaining about something. Are you getting paid more for 2 rigs ? We had 5 activities on the site we were on and no extra money. That was with 2 rigs too. I figure if you are on a EOG gate and you are dealing with the right people it would be ok.
But i don't want on a gate that will not pay more for all the activities going on. That is my main concern now.
I would take another EOG gate if they pay more for 2 rigs.
Just because one company man was bad, does not mean they all are that way. I just want the extra money for all the extra work. The EOG company man told me all their gates were that busy.
So the question is; are you getting more than $125.00 per day ?

Our experience with EOG was the company man is the day to day boss but the Construction Superintendent is the one signing off on the invoices. He is the go-to guy for getting the rate increase. EOG's rate for the Barnett was:
+$50/day for every rig over one
+$50/day for frac crew if you had another rig or frac crew already on site.
+$50 for 3 workover rigs or more with one of the above present.

5 frac crews would pay $325/day

3 rigs / frac crew / 3 workover rigs = $325/day

In our case, showing 25+ pages of sign-ins for a 24 hour period was proof positive. You WILL not get the big money without earning it. It was brutal work.

Wow the last two weeks has been hectic, fracing crew for 4 1/2 days then the roll tubing guysin for a few days then the crew that drilled out the plugs and then the flow back team. A lot of night work especially with the sand trucks. Now they are all gone and the well is producing good. We are setteling back to day only work. Today only 2 guys in the rest are off on Sunday. The pipeline crew come in about 6AM but leave about 3 PM 6 days...no work on Sunday.
