I'm new to the world of RV'ing and so far the taste I've had is GREAT!! I've been researching inverter generators and am wondering, has anyone heard of, and or used, a PureWave Electric Key Start DG-3500 Digital Generator Inverter? I know Honda is the best, but I need to do this on a budget, also, any opinions on the Champion Digital Hybrid?

it has more power 4000 peak watts, and cost less money, than the fully enclosed remote start inverter models
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

This is the CHAMPION DIGITAL HYBRID GENERATOR the OP asked about.

Due to its open frame, this one will be louder than typical inverter generators.

There are literally thousands of inverter generator threads here.
There are many affordable inverter generators out there. Champion is the clear competitor to H&Y.

Please educate yourself about decibel levels.

I'm quite familiar with the decibel level of various generators.

I only posted this because the OP asked for opinions on the Champion Digital Hybrid.

gbopp, sorry.
My statement was meant for the OP.

what is the advantage of a hybrid? I have the 3500 remote start inverter, its a few more dollars but a nice gen. its the same as the 3100 only more power.

Great info, thanks for sharing. Only wish they had the Champion Dual Fuel included

I don't own one (yet) but, I wouldn't hesitate to buy any Champion generator.
The digital hybrid is probably not as quiet as an inverter generator.
Where do you plan to use it? That should be part of your research.

Welcome to the forum. :C

Mostly the use is the same as my Honda EU2000i, to charge batteries if too many gray days or shade limiting our solar. Iโ€™ve considered adding another to parallel with it for the time when we may want to run the 15k AC. The Champion Duel Fuel is a nice option to keep from having to haul along gasoline even though on Propane there is some output loss.

Thank you all for the input, I think I'm going with the champion digital hybrid coupled with an air cooled sound absorbing enclosure I'm going to make.

you'll probably end up spending the same amount of money, as just buying a Champion 3100w inverter generator in the first place.:R

Well, if the OP has a towable RV being pulled by a pickup truck ... and depending upon one's definition of "portable" ... this generator is probably the quietest in the world for camping and delivering a steady 700 watts (1/4 of it's rated 2800 watt output) at 50 dB(A). And due to it's maximum output capability of 3000 watts, it can of course also power a stock 13.5K BTU RV air conditioner at any reasonable high altitude:

That is NOT a lightweight unit ! Can you handle loading and unloading it ? Also, your quiet box will need a LOT of ventilation to prevent the unit from over heating. Heat from the exhaust can melt foam !

I have the 2000 watt champion inverter. It will not run the AC or microwave but fairly easy to carry in and out of the truck. If one needs more power but still be portable buy a second and the connection between the two, double your power, run AC also the microwave.

We have a champion 2000 inveri. Bought it as a refurbished from Super Gen (eBay). Great little Genny. Charges the batteries. Would like the larger one on wheels but too heavy for me to lift but it would allow the AC to run when dry camping. Easy start and pretty quiet for the $$.

I chose one on the top 10 list Generac IQ 2000 small Quieter and cheaper than the Honda. I did get it at better price than it is now.

A review From a regular contributor to this forum

Good price and is very quiet, meets my needs. It also does not suffer from the open ground that most inverter generators have.

It will handle all the small needs without all the noise of my on-board ONAN.

If I need A/C I can always fire up the ONAN but this thing does everything else.

I did a little test on my Generac IQ2000 with a sound meter, First running the ONAN,outside at about 2FT then inside both with the microwave on.

I found that inside the RV it was only 5 db less than outside,my ONAN sits under the dinette and there is some vibration too.
Then with the Generac at 2 ft the Generac was 10db quieter outside and inside it was only 2-3 db higher that the ambient noise and no vibration.

I then went to the empty neighboring campsite and did the same test.

With the ONAN on it measured 10 db higher than the ambient noise level and with the Generac only 2-3 db above ambient.

I think my neighbors would prefer the Generac when I have to charge my batteries or run the microwave for a short time,I know I like it much better
