Labor Day Horror Stories

There are only 3 weekends that we will not go camping: Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day.

So let's hear from all those that were camping this weekend:

1. Outside speakers and loud music;
2. Late night parties;
3. Drunk, rowdy, and "hold my beer and watch this";
4. Kids screaming, running through my site, etc.;
5. Dog was loud, unleashed, or pooped in my site;
6. I left stuff outside and it was stolen;
7. CG was a dump, owner was nasty;
8. Traffic was terrible and nobody respects RV drivers;
9. Neighbor ran an open-frame worksite generator all weekend;
10. My (fill in equipment here) broke and ruined the trip.

Who wants to go first? Special prize if you can check "all of the above" LOL.

Sure it was crowded. Sure there were lots of "crazies" to keep us entertained. It's all part of the experience.

Was I thrilled to see the CG empty out Monday afternoon? Sure I was. This is THE BEST time of year to camp.

We have not gone camping on the big holiday weekends for a number of years with the exception of labor day. Our kids (grown now) can go on the holiday weekends, not so much on the other times so we cave and join the crowds on Labor Day.

We had some issues, such as gas part of water heater stopped working (electric side okay so generator ran to heat water), electric tongue jack decided to not work (but hand crank was still working)...

We had some neighbor campers that had horn honk randomly on their truck (all day and night). Second day, went over and asked if they needed help since they were honking horn.. turned out to be new truck with alarm gremlin. They changed something and we got quiet times then.

We had neighbors on other side that had 15-18 kids spread over 3 sites, happy sounds mostly and they shared their corn on the cob that was perfect.

All in all, great weekend.

Lakes region of New Hampshire. We arrived Friday at 2:30. Left Monday at noon. All was quiet, owners and helpers were very nice. We had a site at the end of a row that backs up to a small brook.

Went camping and had a blast, none of those bad things happened. Maybe that's because of the people that stayed home?

Thanks for staying home, as we liked your spot and it was peaceful and had nice non complaining neighbors.

I won't go to a campground on major holidays either. I came into our favorite campground yesterday afternoon as the campground was clearing out. I spoke with one gentleman and asked how was the weekend. His reply was an exhausted "I'm glad they all left".
