Most common campground complaints?

Running a campground for this season, we're lucky (or maybe hard working enough?) that we don't hear about too many complaints.

So we were thinking, what things have you found to complain about at a campground? What's the most common thing you dislike that a campground manager would be able to do something about?

I agree. We use our own. However over the last nine years of RVing, I have had people tell me they are using their shower for storage, their shower is to small, water pressure isn't high enough, they don't want to use their propane/electric and will use the park's electric. 😄

In 3 yrs I never used the shower in my mom's Minnie Winnie for showering, I always only used it for storage. Our shower is much larger, so I will use it on occasion, but not always.

We dry camp in Sweethome Oregon and we use the showers at the high school since it's a 50 foot walk from our spot. It doesn't fill up our tanks and we are supporting the school golf team with our $3.00 donation 🙂

Campground complaints!

1. my neighbors can see me.
2. why does the cable only have 5 channels.
3. the cement pad lists 1 inch to the left.
4. the sewer hookup is not right below my waste valve.
5. there are to many bugs outside.
and lastly, there are too many kids at a Jellystone!

Well I don't mean to go off the other side of this conversation however as a manager of a campground looking for complaints to better your campground I think you'll get use out of this.

We just completed a week stay at a campground close to home to "figure out our new MH". I've never been to this place before, so I didn't know what to expect. By the time we left I felt as if I was a member of the owner's family.

I didn't need to try to fit in, I just did. The seasonal folk there made me feel real comfortable and part of a big family. The one poster who said keep them separate, I don't agree. The ones we met were very nice and everyone got along.

Yes the washroom was clean and the noise restricted times of 10-8 were strictly enforced. Also everone obese with a dog picked up after their dogs.

One of the seasonal campers told me that the owner runs a tight ship, and puts up with no nonsense. This proved true by the way people respected the rules.

As for my crazy 2 and 4 yr old daughters they were at times loud and I kept apologizing to my neighbors. Kids are what they are. I don't allow them to run amuck on their own, but they can be a pain to have to listen to even if they are your own so I get it.

As any society I guess you'll run onto some that have more needs than others. I would just keep to the basics of any service industry and figure out who your loyal customers are and keep them happy.

The rules say not to advertise so I won't, however if anyone wants the information on the campground I stayed at, message me and I will give it to you. The best methods of business is when you have word of mouth advertising.

Rope or awning lights!!!!!!!! Just got back from Dead Horse Park and the only lights were the campers and the gas flaring from a well off in the distance for the first few nights, then someone comes in and drapes those stupid lights all over their camper. Nature does a much better job with the stars, the moon and the Milk-Way.

My biggest complaint is people leaving their yapper in the RV while they tour. I'm a dog owner, so I'm not saying that because I hate dogs. I don't. But a yapper is going to yap when you're not there... all day... yap, yap, yap. Everytime they come back... "Oh, I didn't realize that he/she barked when we left them in there". What? They yap when they are outside with you around, you really think they don't do so when you're not there to stop them? In my still relatively limited RVing experience, I've seen this a few times.

There are also parents that think the campground roads are a proper place for the kids to play, letting their kids that can't throw or catch a frisbee worth a darn toss frisbees all over the place onto other people's sites, the top of some RVs... that kind of thing, and not see a problem with it. I know it's not right to expect someone to contain their kids solely on their little site and nowhere else, but everywhere I have gone there is plenty of green/park space where the kids can play their games and toss their toys.

Now golf carts... I'm not talking about the regular ones that just putter around, but the fully pimped "look at me" carts zooming around most of the day thinking they're entertaining the entire campground with their choice in music blaring out of the sound system. Only an issue I've experienced in Myrtle Beach and nowhere else.

My biggest two peeves are lack of trash receptacles within easy walking distance, and poor Wi-Fi bandwidth. One "resort" I stayed at only had one dumpster, almost a mile away from our site, and their wifi was horrible. took 20 minutes to load one page. Oh, and being put next to folks who rent by the month, and are ghetto.

I rarely shower in mine because it's the SS&S kinda and it's a pain to dry everything off.

Without a doubt it is the restrooms and showers. Often the single electrical outlet is not working, there is no shelving for a Dopp kit or shaving kit, only one hook in the shower stall for ones clothes, towel, etc., and no mirror for shaving and no place to sit in the shower space. Often no place to put soap and shampoo except on the floor of the showr.

There has been no correlation with the rate charged and the quality of the showers and restrooms with bargain places having great facilities adn expensive places have restrooms and showers that show that no one cares about the guests.

At a campground last month I mentioned that the electrical outlet did not work and the employees response was that I should not electricity that I was camping. If I was camping I did not need to pay for their campsite and could have driven into the woods instead.

I doubt that the owners and managers ever use the showers or they would fix these areas if only for their own convenience. None of these things are expensive or difficult to correct. I could fix all of them in any facility for under $100 and with one day's labor.
