Move it on over....

We were on our way up to Canyon Pt. last Tuesday cruising along Roosevelt Lake on highway 188 when we encountered a Highway Patrol unit approaching with the red/blues and headlights flashing. She was doing about 15 mph smack in the center of the two lane highway. I pulled over as far as I could and stopped on the edge of the shoulder. She pulled alongside and said there was a wide load coming. How wide? I asked... Wider than you she replied. But I'm not all that wide I told her. She laughed and said "Lug nut Rule". I said excuse me? This one has a lot more lug nuts than you so stay where you are, "they" will be along shortly and off she drove with a wicked grin on her face. Over the next five minutes ten escort vehicles, 7 of which were Highway Patrol along with 3 trucks came down the road escorting this Monster!

Not really sure just what it was or where it was headed but there are ten axles, 4 tires each BEHIND the truck doing the towing. :S

You should have seen that monster turbine that was heading north on 87 to 260 east a few years ago. That monster took up all the lanes and the shoulders too.

I would bet it was a part of a transformer for a power plant...

That would barely count as oversize around here, some huge pieces go up to the oil sands

Lug nut rule the one with the most lug nuts wins. Usually brought up at an accident between a small car and a truck.

South of Ely NV last October. Talk about your serious lug nuts. The police escorted us off to a side road.

I like the lug nut rule. Hubby and I have always referred to the Law of Gross Tonnage, eg biggest/heaviest vehicle has the right of way.

Here in TX, the worst are the ones hauling the wind turbine blades. Wide load, and require three sets of wheels underneath.

Of course, there are the head-scratchers... such as the guy with the oversized double-wide trying to haul it down a busy highway at 5:00 rush hour. Guess he wanted to win a popularity contest.

Holy Moly! Sure glad the sheriff got to you before that behemoth drove by!

Lug nut rule, never heard that one but pretty funny that it would work as to who has the right away!

At least it didn't hold you up long. I got stuck behind one of those hauling I-Beams that were 2 blocks long on the interstate going 40 miles an hour. And the cops would not let you pass them.
