Noisy RV Rooftop A/C unit

Do all RV A/C units sound like you are standing next to a 747 at full engine run up. The unit does not vibrate. Although one can perceive a difference in the rpm of the blower at low, med, and high settings even low is much to noisy to run for very long. I have cleaned the inside filter.

I have a recent 38ft Montana fifth Wheel, (supposedly with the winter insulator package). It is setup permanently on a camping site in Florida. The central AC is located right above the living room and it is noisy and inefficient in severe hot weather; it can't even keep the temperature at 75F. In cold weather months, the central air furnace is also noisy and terribly ineffective. Needless to say it guzzles up propane gas at alarming rates. I'm seriously thinking of installing an 18,000 BTU (1.5 tons) Mini Split air conditioner/heat pump system outside with a wall mounted unit inside. Does anyone have any experience with a setup like that? I would appreciate any comment or suggestions.
P.S. I have a similar unit at home and it works extremely well and saves me considerable money with the inverter compressor (same as the 12V inverter on the RV)

We love our noisy rooftop A/C. It drowns out all you people who don't believe in Quiet Hours. :W

Mine is not that loud. I can watch a movie and only turn the volume up a bit to drown it out. Now my furnace blower that is another story!!!!

My ducted AC is so quiet we don't have to turn up the TV when the AC is on. We have had roof air on several other RVs but none as quiet as the Newmar system.

My fantastic fan is louder than my non-vent AC when each is on high.

Our's made noise, and it vibrated. Took it back, and found it was loose. they tightened it, and now it is actually pretty quiet. Normal conversation is easy. It is ducted. They are quieter.

I had a Carrier AC and it got loud last summer. I looked up my model and lots of people said the blower fan gets cracks in it and it makes lots of noise. Checked and mine was cracked. Put a replacement in and much better for noise.

My ducted one seems no less noisy (ok, maybe slightly less) than the non-ducted we had preciously.
AC's are just noisy!

Not all, just the non-ducted ones.

RV roof top A/C units are noisy and unfortunately they seem to be placed near where you spend most of your time in an RV.

I have found that once the A/C cools down the interior on high fan we can switch to low fan to maintain the cold temperature inside. The noise level near the A/C unit drops to an almost comfortable level with the fan on low.

When we first installed a replacement unit there was a loud buzz. I went up on the roof and removed the shroud. There were two copper tubes that were close enough together to cause the buzz from the vibration of the fan/compressor running. I moved them apart very carefully and place a small block of dense foam. No more buzz.

Yes they are noisy but then again it is right there...not outside in backyard on a pad.

Really noisy.....remove ceiling grill and check function of blower fan wheel (turn fan on with grill removed and watch for excessive movement/wobble) also check duct work leaving discharge plenum (loose materiel, loose ducts etc.)

And make sure registers are open & flowing air.....restriction will cause noisy fan
Is it time for your medication or mine?

Ours is kind of like that. If we need it on at night, we run the one in the front so it is less noisy in the bedroom.
