probes in gray water tank ??

Just spent an hour changing the probes in the black water tank, and spent at least that much trying to find where the probes are in the gray water tank, can't even find the gray water tank....

5000 kodiak chassis , just like the Seneca

looks like it is really hidden nicely..........just need to get the gray water levels, as we dry camp a lot, didn't need the black as you can see it, but had the new probes so I used them, but gray you can't see.................thanks for the help

Yes, I have done all the above. traced line till it went under black tank. as for the advice to forget about it, its something I want to do, have been at this long enough to know about them, just want to find the gray tank, thank anyway..

It shouldn't be too hard to find the gray tank by following the drain plumbing.

I'm assuming you dis this, but if you have a single sewer hose connection, you should be able to see where the gray tanks (sometimes smaller) piping 'Y's into the black tanks pipe and trace it from there.

The new ones that you install will maybe work for a couple of years before they quit.......maybe....Not worth the trouble of replacing....... our tanks will easily go a weekend before needing to empty.

The SeeLevel gauges seem to work better than the cheapo sensors. But they cost a bit more and the entry level builders will not use them.

O K , not new to dry camping, we have been doing it for over 10 years, Yes I know that when the sinks burp its time to dump, however I still would like to know how to get to the gray water tank. Yes they are the Horst probes, and yes these probes have not worked since we bought the motor home 5 years ago, but I thought it would be nice to be able to check them out........

I agree with all of the above. In over 50 years, using all of our 5 RVs, we have never had any tank gauge in any RV that was accurate. The gauges in the Monty we now have are just as inacurate as all the rest. I learned long ago to not pay any attention to the gauges. I have no idea why the manufacturers install gauges that are not reliable.

I do have a portable gauge that I have sometimes used for years to measure the amount of propane in the Propane tanks. It works fine. Just hold it against the ouside of tank, slide it up and down and it will indicate the propane level. I suspect that someone, somwhere, has invented a gauge that would be accurate for the water tanks in an RV but why manufacturers fail to install them excapes me.

If the probes you installed are the Horst probes they work very well according to those that have them. I would like to install a set of the Horst probes on our tanks. 🙂

The probes are worthless in my experience.

If the toilet burps- dump the black

If the shower starts filling with water - dump the gray

They are the best and most reliable tank sensors ever.

wow, ours are 10 yrs old - works perfectly fine....oh sure some could have more levels (than just the 3) but when its full its full.

if you want accuracy upgrade to a SeeLevel Gauge by Garnet Technologies Inc.

My rig is 14 years old, tank probews stopped working about 3 to 4 months latter, haven't even looked at them, time to dump black tank, the wife complains she smells it when she flushes, gray tank when the shower tub starts to fill.

Don't waste your time with the probes they rarely work for long, learn to listen for the full tank noise, it never fails.
